We are looking for engaged and service-oriented environmental workers for our recycling centers in Norrtälje municipality. As part of our team, you will be a key person in receiving and managing bulky waste, hazardous waste, and reusable materials – always with a customer focus and the environment in mind! Our three recycling centers – Häverö, Görla, and Salmunge – receive hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. We are now looking for more employees who want to contribute to a more sustainable society.

We need to strengthen our team with:

• 2 substitutes for Häverö recycling center

The placement is primarily at Häverö recycling center, but work at Görla and Salmunge recycling centers may also occur. Flexibility and good collaboration skills are therefore important qualities.

The assignment

The customer is always in focus. You are an important face outward and meet everyone with a professional and friendly approach. You guide, inform, and create security in knowing that we handle recycling in the best way.

As an environmental worker, you will work both independently and in a team to:

• Welcome and assist customers with sorting and recycling
• Register company cards and perform reception controls
• Operate machines and handle various types of waste
• Reload materials and maintain order at the facility
• Perform snow removal and cleaning of surfaces
• Ensure good quality and report any deviations
• Contribute improvement suggestions for a more efficient operation

What you need to bring

Requirements:

• Driving license B
• Computer skills
• Knowledge of Swedish to guide residents and businesses

Meritorious:

• Experience from the recycling industry or service professions
• Driving certificate or documented experience operating wheel loaders, material handlers, or excavators

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. You are an engaged, flexible, positive, professional, and service-oriented person with great personal maturity. You take responsibility for both your own and the group's tasks, have an easy time prioritizing, and enjoy order and tidiness in the workplace. You communicate easily with customers, managers, and colleagues, and since you work closely with others, good collaboration skills are crucial. The work is mostly outdoors – therefore, you need to appreciate working in all weather conditions.

The workplace

Norrtälje Water and Waste is responsible for the collection and treatment of municipal waste from about 50,000 customers, latrine waste from about 2,700 customers, and sludge waste from about 30,000 individual sewage systems. We are also responsible for planning, developing, and procuring collection and treatment services, as well as developing waste tariffs, local waste plans, and local regulations on waste management. The collection and transport of municipal waste are handled by contracted entrepreneurs, while the municipality's recycling centers are staffed by our own personnel. Currently, about 22 employees work at the three recycling centers in Norrtälje municipality.

Employment form, scope, and start

Temporary position for about 3 months with the possibility of extension. Scheduled working hours, weekend work occurs regularly.

Norrtälje Water and Waste is a limited company owned by Norrtälje municipality. On March 1, 2021, the company took over the operations from the VA department and the waste management department of the municipality. Norrtälje Water and Waste has approximately 150 employees.
