Work as a Substitute in Healthcare and Social Care
Do you want a meaningful job where you make a difference for others? Do you enjoy helping, creating security, and improving everyday life for others? At the same time, do you want the flexibility to work when it suits you? Then a substitute position in healthcare and social care might be for you!
As a substitute with us, you have an intermittent employment, which means you work as needed, mainly during short-term absences, for example when regular staff are sick or on leave.
You are employed through the Social Administration's Staffing Unit and will be booked for shifts based on the needs of the operations and your own availability.
What does being a substitute mean for us?
- You do not have a fixed employment rate, but work when your availability matches the needs of the operations.
- You enter your availability in our substitute management system.
- Bookings can occur at short notice or a few days in advance.
- Shifts vary in time, location, and scope.
- You will have the opportunity to work in different operations and build valuable experience.
As a substitute, you will work in one or more of our operations within elderly care and personal support and care. Our operations are located in Brålanda, Frändefors, Vargön, and Vänersborg. In your application, you can specify which operations and locations you are interested in. Therefore, consider in advance where you can and want to work.
You apply by answering the questions in the application form and attaching your CV. You do not need to submit a cover letter. Recruitment takes place continuously throughout the application period. Feedback on your interest application may therefore take up to a few weeks depending on how many apply.
About the Operations

Special housing is a collective term for various types of housing, such as nursing homes, dementia care, short-term housing, and respite care. Tasks may include assisting with transfers, meals, showers, toilet visits, clothing care, cleaning, walks, supervision, and shopping.
In personal support and care, you work to support individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. You can work in personal assistance, LSS housing, or municipal psychiatry. Tasks may include personal care, providing support in personal hygiene and care, daily chores, or planning in everyday life. You also help create security, structure, and independence in daily life.
What is required to work as a substitute?
In this job, you meet people with different needs and conditions, which is why we are looking for someone who is secure, responsible, and has a caring attitude. You need to be able to work independently, be flexible, and enjoy meeting new people and environments. It is important that you can meet people in a calm, secure, and respectful manner, even in situations that feel challenging.
