Description
The City Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.
We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.
The City Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, housing and facilities of quality, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.
Job Responsibilities
Do you want to help develop attractive, safe, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas with great and competent colleagues? Then we have a seasonal job for you!
As a seasonal employee, you will be clearly visible at our bathing areas, and many visitors in Gothenburg may turn to you with tourist-related questions. This means you will be the face of the City Environment Administration and Gothenburg City while you work. Your work contributes to a pleasant environment for the city's residents, visitors, and businesses.
The City Environment Administration is now looking for Bathing Area Coordinators who will be responsible for structuring the daily operations at our outdoor swimming areas. Your tasks include being the link between the operations at the bathing areas and the coordinators and unit managers. You will be responsible for coordinating the work of the bathing area hosts on-site. The work also includes maintaining the city's beautiful outdoor swimming areas, where you, together with the bathing area hosts, work to enhance the comfort factor at our outdoor swimming areas.
Tasks that occur include supporting the bathing area hosts starting at the summer bathing season and being involved in the regular tasks that bathing area hosts should perform. You may need to quickly change the planning of tasks based on weather or unforeseen events. Tasks include, for example, litter picking, maintenance and cleaning of the bathing area toilets, keeping bathing ladders free from algae, and supervising the bathing area's facilities. The work involves using handheld machines such as trimmers for weed control. Driving is required as the work is performed at the city's beautiful outdoor swimming areas. You will start from Ringön and possibly from Askim during the summer months.
An important part of your mission is to have a service-oriented approach towards the bathers. You assist guests with everything from where things are located to guiding them to the nearest barbecue area, and you continuously clean up after them when they have gone home. Your hosting duties also include informing about, for example, barbecue and dog bans and water quality. Additional tasks may arise.
You will be present during the pre- and post-season at our outdoor swimming areas, such as in Askim, Amundön, Näset, Fiskebäck, Sillvik, and Surtesjön. If necessary, you should be able to step in and work as a street cleaner in the city or as a beach cleaner in the archipelago. As a street cleaner, you work with waste management and weed control in the city.
We are looking for bathing area coordinators for the period approximately April 13 - September 13, with working hours including weekend work according to a schedule. Evening shifts may occur during the peak season approximately June 8 - August 16.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Completed high school education or experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- Driver's license B
- Good driving experience and is comfortable driving vehicles in both central parts of Gothenburg and in tight spaces.
- Good physical ability as the position involves heavier tasks, even in hilly terrain.
- Previous experience in similar work or service occupations.
- Is a good swimmer and can swim at least 200 meters and dive if necessary.
- Can master the Swedish language both orally and in writing.
- Can handle digital channels on computer and mobile.
To succeed in this position, you need to be meticulous, have good collaboration skills, and be independent as you are responsible for your tasks. You should have a good attitude and care about ensuring that Gothenburgers, visitors, and businesses have a pleasant experience. In case of sudden weather changes and unforeseen events, you need to be flexible and able to make quick decisions and change the planning. You are service-oriented and work with everything from blocking off bathing ladders to guiding visitors to our barbecue areas. Your hosting duties also include tasks such as informing about barbecue and dog bans and water quality. As the day comes to an end, you ensure that everything is cleaned and organized for the next day.
