Construction Manager with a focus on transmission

About the position

Our controls are divided into two different areas of expertise; transmission and ground/foundation. We primarily work to monitor the contractor's work on the construction site and ensure that overhead lines are built according to our current guidelines and the agreed contract. The work is mainly performed in the field and at the project site offices, but also at Svenska kraftnät's offices.

As a construction manager, you are primarily responsible for projects in the construction phase, while also reviewing documents in other projects in earlier phases. Your daily tasks include:

• Ensuring that the construction project can be carried out as smoothly as possible during the final phase of planning.
• Reviewing technical documents in procurement documents before sending out and after the agreed contract with the contractor, you review the established work preparations. Furthermore, during the contract, you also review other types of technical documentation provided by the contractor.
• Acting as a sounding board for the contractor and discussing solutions to technical questions while anchoring these internally and with the designer.
• Being Svenska kraftnät's representative in the field, ensuring that the work is performed according to the agreed control documents. This is done, among other things, through reviewing and following up on the contractor's self-checks.

Additionally, you may be responsible for technical meetings. You assist the project manager with handling changes and you support them during construction meetings. The position involves performing construction inspections in the field and coordinating the construction control organization in larger projects.

In the role of construction manager, you will be part of one of our two growing units for Construction Management & Construction Control. The units currently consist of approximately 25 employees (12 permanent staff and other consultants), some of whom are the most experienced in the country in managing the construction of power lines. The units are geographically divided into North and South, where your stationing location largely determines which of the two units you will belong to. The units are responsible for the construction control function during the reconstruction and new construction of overhead lines.

About you

Requirements:

We are looking for someone who collaborates well with others as the role involves many points of contact. You contribute to innovative thinking and come up with ideas on how the work can be performed. Furthermore, you are characterized by organizing your work efficiently and you recognize the importance of handling various situations constructively to ensure that work can continue according to plan even in the face of setbacks.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. Svenska kraftnät is a government authority, and it is important that you live up to the government value base.

You have a degree as a civil engineer in construction, electrical power, road and water construction, urban planning, or other relevant education for the position. Alternatively, you have equivalent competence acquired through work experience or in another way that Svenska kraftnät assesses as equivalent.

Furthermore, you have:

• Several years of work experience in transmission (overhead lines), construction management/construction control/inspection min 130 kV or construction of overhead lines min 130 kV or higher.
• You speak and understand Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
• A valid driver's license (B).

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Experience working with AB 04, ABT 06 and/or AMA.
• Good experience in construction management/construction control or construction of overhead lines (transmission) at 220 kV or higher.

Good to know

• The position is open to applicants from all over Sweden, and the placement can be in Sundbyberg/Stockholm, Gothenburg, Sundsvall, Luleå, Sollefteå, or Västerås. Home stationing may be relevant depending on your place of residence, this assessment will be made in consultation with your immediate supervisor.
• Svenska kraftnät has various types of overhead line projects, and it may be relevant to work on larger line projects, smaller line measures, and revision projects/measures on existing lines.
• Travel constitutes a large part of the job, Svenska kraftnät strives to place employees in projects as close to home as possible, but one should expect some overnight stays per week during certain periods.
• There is an opportunity for remote work on days when the construction manager is not in the field/on site offices in the projects. #LI-hybrid
