This is us

The goal of the Meal Unit is to provide all diners with a good, varied, and nutritious meal. We strive to prepare food from scratch and, whenever possible, use Swedish, locally produced, and fair trade ingredients. The Meal Unit is responsible for the preparation and serving of food to the municipality's preschools, schools, and elderly care. The operation has about 30 employees and consists of 13 kitchens in urban and rural areas, of which 7 are production kitchens.

The Meal Unit collaborates closely with other municipalities in Dalsland and Säffle Municipality in the work with procurements and common goal documents.

We actively work with climate goals for 2030, both in the Meal Unit and in the municipality. We continuously monitor goals related to sustainable meals and food waste. For us, continuous development work and participation are important to achieve good results.

Job Responsibilities

Preparation of all meals and accompaniments, as well as special diets and texture-adapted diets, salad preparation, self-control work, orders, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning, as well as other tasks in a large kitchen.

The position entails:

• replacing regular staff during short-term absences
• being available for short notice calls
• working at several different preschools, schools, and elderly care facilities within the municipality, either with other team members or independently
• working hours may be scheduled between 06:30 - 16:30, and weekend work may occur

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with restaurant and large-scale kitchen training, other education and/or experience that the employer deems equivalent. It is an advantage if you have training in allergies and special diets. You have knowledge and interest in good and nutritious meals where the guest and dining environment are central.

Furthermore, you have good communication skills, enjoy working in a team, and contribute to good cooperation with colleagues and other professionals you meet in your work. The position requires you to be flexible and to strive to find solutions to the challenges that may arise in our kitchens.

The role requires computer literacy, basic knowledge of mathematics, and good Swedish in both spoken and written form. We work with the dietary software Matilda, so experience with this is an advantage. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period. Basic computer knowledge in Office programs is a prerequisite for the position.
