Job Responsibilities

As an environmental and health protection inspector at Norrhälsinge Environmental Office and Permitting Unit, you are a vital part of a team that works together to deliver community services of the highest quality, contribute to a thriving business environment, and create an attractive and sustainable living environment for our residents based on the organization's mission and given frameworks.

Your main responsibilities will include assessment and supervision according to the Environmental Code and food legislation, as we primarily seek expertise in health protection and food control. This involves participating in the planning and execution of inspections at various businesses, handling incoming assessment cases and complaints of various kinds. In collaboration with colleagues internally or through cooperation with other municipalities, you will participate in the planning and implementation of various inspection projects and activities aimed at developing the operations. The work is varied in terms of tasks. You have a great opportunity to influence how the work is planned and executed, and there is always support from colleagues and management.

If you have broader expertise, it may be possible to apply it to other areas of supervision or tasks. The work requires that you have a B driver's license.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with specialized knowledge in the field of environmental and health protection, focusing on assessment and supervision according to the Environmental Code and food legislation through an academic degree or other higher education qualifications that we deem equivalent. This means you have a scientific background with good knowledge of relevant special legislation, administrative law, and supervision methodology.

As a person, you are proactive and have a problem-solving analytical ability to handle complex issues. You communicate clearly and can express yourself very well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. You are curious and have a good demeanor, as well as an open and accepting attitude in your interactions with everyone you meet in your professional role. You are service-oriented and have good IT skills. You collaborate well in a way that contributes to the success of the organization's development and overall results. Experience in food supervision and environmental and health protection work with regulatory authority within a politically governed organization is an advantage.

About Norrhälsinge Environmental Office and Permitting Unit

Norrhälsinge Environmental Office and Permitting Unit works to minimize risks to human health and the environment. This is done through various controls/supervision in the internal and external environment, food handling, water and sewage, chemicals, and waste. The office also handles issues related to alcohol serving and tobacco sales through the permitting unit.

We serve both Hudiksvall and Nordanstig municipalities through a joint environmental and rescue committee. We are an authority that has a large number of special legislations to adhere to, in addition to the purely administrative ones such as the Administrative Act, Archive Act, GDPR, and the Public Access and Secrecy Act.

The office consists of a total of 19 people, including two administrators. We are a wonderful team that enjoys working together, and we are very committed to maintaining a workplace where we all collectively take responsibility for our mission, each other, and our well-being. Our premises are located in a pleasant, newly built office building centrally located by Hudiksvallsfjärden, just a few minutes' walk from the bus and train station. Currently, there is also the possibility to work remotely to some extent.
