Requirements Profile and Responsibilities

The Faculty of Social Sciences Library at Lund University is looking for a service-oriented employee with good judgment for the User Support Team. The position is a fixed-term employment for six months with the possibility of extension.

As a member of the User Support Team, you will work closely with our students, researchers, and other users. You will participate in the daily staffing of the information desk and provide guidance to users regarding our services, resources, and learning environments.

The position focuses on accessible literature and support for students with reading disabilities. You will schedule and conduct individual meetings with students, where you will gather information through structured conversations that form the basis for assessing the need for accessible course literature. The work requires integrity, attentive interaction, and the ability to handle complex situations professionally.

Depending on the applicant's experience and competence, media work may also be involved, such as cataloging and/or handling interlibrary loans.

Job Duties

  • Staff the information desk and provide guidance to library users.
  • Conduct structured conversations to investigate potential reading disabilities.
  • Support students with questions about accessible literature and the library's digital resources.
  • Participate in the team's collective efforts to develop good service and an inclusive user experience.
  • Other tasks typically associated with a university library, primarily media work depending on competence and needs.

Qualifications

You are flexible, attentive, and responsive in your interactions with users. You have a friendly and professional demeanor and communicate clearly. You make thoughtful assessments and have the ability to see the big picture and prioritize. You take responsibility for your tasks and your own learning.

You have good administrative skills, work comfortably in digital environments, and enjoy varied tasks. Experience in user work is an advantage, as is prior work with audiobooks or Legimus. Experience with interlibrary loans or other media management is also a plus.

Since the university operates in both Swedish and English, you need to feel comfortable communicating in both languages.

We believe you are quality-conscious, service-oriented, self-driven, and have a knack for collaboration.

Requirements for Employment:

  • Academic degree in library and information science, or equivalent as assessed relevant by the employer.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written forms.

Desirable Qualifications for Employment:

  • Experience in service work, preferably within libraries, educational institutions, or the public sector.
  • Experience with accessibility issues, pedagogical support, or work with students with special needs.
  • Experience in media work, such as interlibrary loans and/or cataloging.
