About the workplace and the job

We are looking for an environmental inspector focused on environment and food for 9 months, with a possibility of extension.

The employment rate is 100% and the start date is according to agreement.

As part of Vilhelmina municipality, the environmental and building committee works with the citizens' living environment. Our employees handle issues related to building permits, detailed plans, environmental and health protection, food, tobacco, and alcohol.

Job responsibilities and areas of responsibility

One of our colleagues will be on parental leave, and we therefore need reinforcement for a period. Being an environmental inspector in Vilhelmina is a fun and varied job. You will work with cheerful and caring colleagues who help each other in everyday life at a workplace known for its good atmosphere.

Experience in the profession is meritorious, but we also see that the position can offer a good opportunity for you who have recently completed or are about to complete your studies. Here you will have the chance to try the profession in a small workgroup where you can be involved in several supervision areas.

Your work tasks will mainly consist of supervision and assessment within the Environmental Code and Food Act. We also try to be flexible and may possibly direct the position more towards other areas if it better suits your competence.

You will make decisions in accordance with the municipality's delegation order and prepare and present cases before the environmental and building committee's politicians. It is of great importance that you can seek legal support and write decisions that are legally sound. Another important part of the job involves delivering service and supporting both entrepreneurs and private individuals in matters related to our authority areas.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is an educated environmental and health protection inspector or has other equivalent education with good knowledge of environmental legislation and/or food law. Experience working with the Environmental Code and Food Act is meritorious but not a requirement. Familiarity with processing or supervision under other legislation (for example, the Alcohol Act) is also meritorious.

We believe that you as a person are outgoing, proactive, and humble. You should have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, good communication and collaboration skills. We also see that you can handle and independently prioritize among several ongoing work processes. Good computer skills are a given requirement. Personal suitability is highly valued. A B driver's license is required.
