Job Description
As a nurse, you work in a team with different professions. You are responsible for and lead the team in specific and basic nursing during your shift. One of our greatest strengths is communication, which ensures that the work flows smoothly during the shift.
The oncology section conducts both planned and emergency operations and cares for patients in curative and palliative stages. Oncological nursing is a central part of your work, including cytostatic treatment, radiation therapy, side effects, and various complications that may arise during treatment, pain management, and palliative care. We place great importance on a good approach characterized by respect and ethics in the team and patient meetings. The team cares for adult patients with various cancer diagnoses, which means that your work will be varied and include many different tasks. These tasks include, among others, cytostatic handling, antibiotic administration, and transfusions, which are often given via central venous access.
Work Group
We are a cheerful team that enjoys working together and supports each other in daily tasks. We use reflection after each shift to highlight the positive and negative aspects of the day. In the department, there is a reception nurse who provides daily support for each team, as well as a coordinator who manages much of the administrative work. Furthermore, there are four lead nurses who have extra responsibility for you as a newcomer. There is an oncology on-call service available at all hours, which is also responsible for rounds during weekends. A pharmacist replenishes the medication cart, medication dispenser, and basic stock of medications. We also have a service host who manages ordering and replenishing supplies. In the unit, there is also a meal host.
About You
You are a licensed nurse or a licensed specialist nurse in oncology or medical care. At the Cancer and Lung Care Unit (CoL), there is an opportunity to develop both as a new, experienced, and specialist nurse.
You enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team with the patient in focus, where all professional categories learn from each other. You have a good empathetic ability to understand someone else's perspective or situation without taking over the person's feelings.
We are looking for someone who finds it easy to work independently and collaborates well with others. You create engagement and participation. You also have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.
As you work in constant dialogue with inpatients, relatives, colleagues, and other services, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. You also need to be able to handle various IT systems.
