First Engineer – temporary employment as needed

For icebreaker currently stationed in Luleå

The main task of the icebreakers is to provide icebreaker assistance. During periods without ice conditions, other tasks such as fairway maintenance, troubleshooting of maritime safety equipment, etc. may also occur.

Job Responsibilities
As the First Engineer, you will be the supervisor for the engine crew and, together with the Technical Manager, participate in work planning and budget work. You will also be part of the vessel's management team. The work is carried out in accordance with the vessel's quality and maintenance systems. If necessary, you may also act as Technical Manager.

You will be employed by the Swedish Maritime Administration's Shipping Company, which means you may also serve on other vessels within the fleet.

Who are you?
To be considered for the role of First Engineer, you must have:
•    Class II Engineer's Certificate
•    Basic Safety according to STCW Manila
•    Advanced Fire Fighting Certificate
•    Basic Medical Training
•    Certificate for Lifeboats and Rescue Boats
•    Valid medical certificate for seafarers
•    Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing

It is advantageous if you have:
•    Class I Engineer's Certificate
•    Experience from icebreaker operations
•    Experience with control and monitoring systems as well as PMS systems
•    Experience with maintenance systems
•    Worked with ISM and quality systems
