JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At Centrumskolan, we have grades from preschool to grade 6 with 335 students. Each grade has two classes, and each grade level works closely together in a team-teaching model. We focus on our development areas: shared understanding in assessment and planning, instructional design, and language-developing teaching across all subjects. The school has a student health team consisting of special educators, special teachers, a counselor, and a school nurse. We place great emphasis on our three development areas, collaborating closely with all our staff.

As a school librarian at Centrumskolan, you will engage in reading promotion and provide support to students and teachers in their literature and media use. The position involves close collaboration with the school's leadership, teachers, and other educators. You will be responsible for staffing the school library, organizing books, and assisting with support for digital tools such as Legimus. Your tasks will also include being part of the development of our after-school program. It is important for us to build trusting relationships and be curious about our students' experiences, interests, development, and learning.

The position is a temporary position at 70 - 100%.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained librarian or has an education in library and information science. Training in pedagogy and media and information literacy may also be of interest. Since the job involves many contacts, both internally and externally, you must have good collaborative skills. Most importantly, you should want to work with children and youth and develop their reading skills.

You take initiative, work independently, and have good teamwork skills. We are looking for someone who wants to ensure that the library serves as an educational resource that supports students. You will work to develop students' reading enthusiasm and good reading skills. Your expertise will complement teachers' subject knowledge and pedagogical competence by using knowledge of reading, language development, information retrieval, and source criticism both in the library and in classrooms and after-school programs.
