Labor Market Training in Automotive Technology at Yrkesakademin in Gothenburg

The automotive industry is a broad and technical field where each day presents new challenges, whether you work with passenger cars, heavy vehicles, or special vehicles. Your contribution is crucial for vehicles to be safe, functional, and environmentally friendly - and you play an important role in keeping both people and society moving. It is a varied profession where you help keep Sweden rolling.

A labor market training program is an opportunity for you as a job seeker registered with the Employment Service. To qualify for the training, you do not need prior knowledge of mechanics, but if you have an interest in technology or different types of vehicles and a valid Swedish B driver's license, that is a good start for a path into the profession.

Training Structure

• Testing and Mapping....................target time 10 days
• Basic Introduction....... target time 40 days

Selectable Career Paths after Approved Testing and Mapping

• Passenger Car Mechanic........................target time 135 days
• Truck Mechanic............................target time 135 days
• Bus Mechanic.................................target time 150 days

Work practice with a target time of 40 days is included in all career paths.

Every non-holiday Monday at 10:00 AM

Planned Course Start

Ongoing starts. We are looking for you who are registered as a job seeker with the Employment Service, hold a valid Swedish B driver's license, preferably C and/or D for training for heavy vehicles, are not an entrepreneur or have a board position in a limited company, have good knowledge of the Swedish language regarding listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, are not in need of an interpreter, can attend the training between 07:00-15:30, Monday to Friday, are motivated to study, are curious and solution-focused, have basic computer skills, and have arranged childcare if applicable.

If you are registered with a company or have significant influence in a limited company, it may affect your chances of being accepted into a labor market training program.

If you have a different native language than Swedish

The instruction is conducted in Swedish and includes various theoretical components, tests, and oral instructions. You need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language regarding listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing so that you can independently benefit from the training in the best way. Self-study may occur, which requires adequate language skills in Swedish.

Compensation

You have the opportunity to apply for activity support during the training, which you do through the Social Insurance Agency: Activity support or development compensation when participating in the Employment Service's program - Social Insurance Agency.
