Mälardalen Rescue Service is a modern association with exciting development opportunities where the Rescue Department works with operational emergency response, incident planning, incident evaluation, accident investigation, as well as competence and capability development. The department also actively engages in activities to contribute to a safer society, external training, participates in collaborative exercises, and is involved in municipal cooperation. Through collaboration within the Eastern Svealand Rescue Region, RRÖS, we also contribute to the development of the region's and Sweden's rescue services.

The department consists of five units. There are good opportunities to influence the mission together with other managers within the department.

As a newly hired manager with us, you will have the conditions to succeed in your managerial role through a management introduction and basic occupational safety training. There are internal support functions in the form of HR, finance, and communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as unit manager, you have operational, budget, personnel, and workplace environment responsibilities over a unit with just over 25 full-time firefighters and group leaders. You are involved in how the operational work is carried out but do not participate in the emergency response.

Your mission and role are to lead and develop your employees and your unit by planning, implementing, and following up on the unit's operational plan, budget, workplace environment, competence development, and competence supply.

You report to the head of the rescue department and are part of the department's management team to collaboratively develop RTMD into a rescue service that can meet the future challenges of society.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant education for the position
• Documented managerial or supervisory experience from the rescue service
• Good ability to articulate in speech and writing
• Good computer skills
• Driving license B

Experience in managerial roles related to operational planning, workplace safety, financial management, and further education in leadership is also meritorious. It is also an advantage if you have worked in or have experience from larger organizations.
