About the workplace
Sala and Heby municipalities in Västmanland and Uppland have a combined population of 35,000. The Community Building Office in Sala manages the operations in the environmental and food area for both municipalities. Work is currently underway to develop a new structure for an organization that will provide Sala municipality with expertise from January 1, 2026. The Environmental Unit works with supervision according to several legislations, such as the Food Act and the Environmental Code.
We are now looking for an engaged and unpretentious food inspector as one of our inspectors is on parental leave.
Job Responsibilities
Working as a food inspector means that you perform supervision according to food legislation. We have an important mission and must ensure that laws and regulations are followed for safe food through supervision. The focus of the position is processing food cases, a task for which you are responsible and design together with your colleagues. The food group works with an indoor and outdoor group to achieve effective and purposeful control. The tasks circulate within the group. You plan and conduct inspections at various food facilities. The work consists of varied tasks and cases, where you will come into contact with various operators and other authorities. The work is regulatory, where you assess and decide on individual cases.
It is important that you, as an employee, enjoy your job. As a food inspector with us, we want you to be engaged and involved in the planning and prioritization of supervisory tasks, where you feel that you can influence your areas of work.
Qualifications
You are a university-educated food agronomist, environmental and health protection inspector, nutritionist with good knowledge of food legislation, or have other education that we assess as equivalent. Previous experience as a food inspector is an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have experience in the food industry and knowledge of the Administrative Procedure Act and regulatory authority. It is very important that you can express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written. We expect you to have good computer skills. The job requires that you have a B driver's license and driving experience.
To be successful in the role, you need to have good social skills, be attentive, and above all be curious in meeting people. You understand the importance of service in regulatory authority, create and maintain trust well, and show respect through factual, correct, and empathetic responses. You need to be confident in yourself and able to remain calm even in pressured situations. The work requires you to work in a structured manner, have good planning and prioritization skills, and find it easy to make decisions. We would like you to be very responsible and have a quality mindset as a natural part of your way of working. It is important that you are unpretentious, solution-focused, and enjoy achieving success through collaboration. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Employment Conditions
1 position, parental leave cover during 2025. Start date according to agreement. Individual salary setting.
