We are looking for a Construction Manager for Road Maintenance to the Swedish Transport Administration, stationed in Växjö.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

The assignment includes construction management within the basic contract areas in Kronoberg and Blekinge counties. In each area, there is a contractor responsible for the maintenance of roads, side areas, and rest areas. The work is carried out in project form where you collaborate with internal specialists and external actors. In some contexts, you will be at the center of questions related to planning, design, and execution activities. Part of the work involves communication with affected clients and consultation with other authorities.

The Construction Manager provides expertise and technical competence in road maintenance and acts as support for project management in monitoring contracted construction work regarding time, quality, and environment. The Construction Manager further works with the project manager to monitor and develop processes. The Swedish Transport Administration's governing regulations and standards must be applied. Supporting documents should be used as guidance.

The assignment involves carrying out inventory, design, construction management, and monitoring of delivery quality on behalf of the client, as well as preparing documents for procurement of maintenance measures within and outside the basic contract.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the contract is planned, quality assured, and executed in accordance with the contract and established plans.
• Inventory and prepare action proposals as well as plans regarding, for example, drainage measures.
• Support project management regarding connection matters and exemptions by following up, checking, and ensuring that the execution complies with the requirements set in permits, e.g., through site visits.
• Assist the project manager with technical expertise regarding road technical issues.
• Keep a diary of your own work.
• Conduct spot checks on the contractor's measurements and quantity calculations.
• Conduct ongoing supervision of ongoing work and inspections of completed work.
• Prepare maintenance instructions and lists.
• Final checks before contract closure.
• Preparation, execution, and documentation of various forms of additional orders to the contract regarding road maintenance.
• Conduct workplace inspections (Level 1).

Requirements (Mandatory)

• At least 3 years of work experience (as a construction manager, project manager, or in a supervisory role such as production manager, site manager, or equivalent in construction/infrastructure projects) in road maintenance. The work experience should not be older than 10 years.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations as well as standards and directives in the relevant area.
• Competence and experience to manage and lead winter road maintenance.
• Completed training to act as the client's construction work environment coordinator, BAS-P and BAS-U.
• Ability to express oneself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Hold a valid B driver's license.
• Competence according to TDOK 2018:0371 APV. Approved certification according to steps 2.2 and 3 must be available at the start of the assignment.
• Experience in road maintenance with good knowledge in the following areas. The work experience should not be older than 5 years.
• Handle and read drawings.
• Drainage/Paving measures.
• Design of roads and streets (VGU).
• Familiarity with IT-based tools and systems for administration.
• Good knowledge of the Office package.
