Harbormaster – a key role for Stockholm's city center quays

Do you want to help develop and manage some of Stockholm's most exciting and attractive places? Stockholm Ports is now looking for a harbormaster to work with our city center quays.

As a harbormaster, you will be responsible for the operational activities at the city center quays.

This includes archipelago vessels, port traffic, yachts, and stationary commercial activities. You will also be responsible for customer relations for leisure vessels that are tenants at our city center quays, ensuring that customer relationships are managed professionally and according to agreements.

You will be a central player in coordinating when Stockholm Ports receives visits from naval vessels and state ships. You will be the responsible harbormaster on site during cruise ship arrivals and other vessel arrivals.

The role also involves developing and improving processes and routines for the city center quays.

At the same time, you will be an important contact point for collaboration with the City of Stockholm's administrations, companies, authorities, and other stakeholders on issues concerning the city center quays.

As a harbormaster, you will belong to the Shipping Stockholm unit, which consists of five people. You will be involved in the development of the unit's operations and budget work and report directly to the port captain.

Other tasks:

  • manage referrals within your area of responsibility and inquiries regarding leases and events
  • plan, collaborate, and execute various events
  • handle deviations and feedback for the city center quays
  • manage various administration within the unit and follow up on contractors' work
  • participate in and drive projects for the development and upgrading of the city center quays
  • be part of Stockholm Ports' organization for maritime security

What you bring to the role

We are looking for someone with a university degree in shipping, maritime logistics, or alternatively economics or engineering with a maritime focus, and who has solid experience from the maritime industry.

You have worked in the maritime sector with commercial vessels or archipelago traffic and have good knowledge of the maritime sector. It is important that you understand what is important for both shipping companies and vessels in connection with port calls.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • worked in a role with a technical focus or financial responsibility
  • technical and/or economic education
  • experience collaborating with municipalities and other authorities

You are an experienced user of the Office suite. A B driver's license for manual transmission is a requirement.

This position is classified in a security class, which means that a security clearance and background check will be conducted according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act. A probationary period applies. The position involves some work after office hours and standby duty during weekends approximately every fifth week.
