PO Halland

The Halland Police Area is one of five police areas in the West Police Region, headquartered in Halmstad. The Halland Police Area covers six municipalities and is divided into four local police areas: Halmstad, Falkenberg, Varberg, and Kungsbacka. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a police area office.

LPO Halmstad

The Local Police Area of Halmstad is part of the Halland Police Area. Within the local police area, there is intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, and support and service.

LPO Varberg

The Local Police Area of Varberg is part of the Halland Police Area. Within the local police area, there is intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, and support and service.

We are now looking for individuals who want to work as detention guards in Varberg or Halmstad as summer substitutes. Travel and work in both locations may occur. In your application, you choose your preferred location, noting that we cannot guarantee your desired location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to be at the center of events? Do you have great patience, enjoy meeting people, and consider it essential to act based on equal treatment and the police's values? Now is your chance to work as a detention guard with us this summer.

As a detention guard, you will be part of a small group of guards led by a group leader. You will work on the supervision and surveillance of detained individuals, participate in searches, samplings, body searches, photography, evidence collection, and fingerprint examinations. The tasks also include monitoring and transporting individuals for questioning or transportation. Handling the detained individuals must be done correctly and in a legally secure manner. Other administrative tasks supporting the operations may also be required.

There may be opportunities for hourly employment after the summer.

QUALIFICATIONS

This opportunity is for you if you:

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent as deemed by the employer

• Have a keen interest in working with people and see the challenging aspects of the job as an opportunity for growth

• Hold a B driver's license (manual)

• Have good verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English

The following are considered advantageous:

• Studying at the Police Academy and have completed courses in self-defense and law with satisfactory results

• Completed the police detention guard training with satisfactory results

• Completed the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's alternative guard training with satisfactory results

• Have previous work experience in dealing with people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations, e.g., from healthcare, psychiatry, education, corrections, security guard, or protection officer roles

• Experience in administrative tasks such as documentation

Personal qualities:

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate maturity, integrity, and can act calmly and professionally even in stressful situations. You have good self-awareness, empathetic abilities, and can adjust your approach and demeanor for conflict prevention. As a detention guard, you apply a high level of security thinking, being reliable in situations where physical violence may occur, and adept at both collaboration and independent work depending on the situation. The role requires the ability to prioritize, switch between tasks and pace quickly, and take initiative in work. Since physical work is involved, we also require good physical fitness.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
