Field Assistant for Upplands-Bro Municipality
In Upplands-Bro Municipality, we are about 2000 employees working to provide our residents and visitors with the best possible service and experience of the municipality. With us, you help build a municipality where a holistic view, commitment, and professionalism permeate the organization, and together we work to fulfill our common societal mission.
We are now looking for an engaged person who is passionate about building relationships with children and young people, alongside wonderful colleagues!
Our Unit
The Field Group consists of four field assistants and is part of the Safety and Security Unit, which belongs to the municipal executive office. Here, coordinators and project leaders also work on safety and crime prevention issues, as well as emergency strategists, safety coordinators, project leaders in welfare crime, and unit managers. The unit is based in the Safety Center in Bro center.
Job Description
The Field Group in Upplands-Bro works proactively and preventively with youth primarily aged 13-18 years. By working broadly and proactively within the entire youth group, the field assistants identify general needs to improve the living conditions of young people. Additionally, they meet those youth who are at risk of developing unfavorably and identify the specific needs of these young people. One goal of the fieldwork is to prevent youth from developing social problems and to catch those whose development has already begun, in order to provide support and refer them further. It is important to build meaningful relationships with the youth encountered, and all contact is voluntary. Some outreach work is also directed towards younger children or the target group of parents. Upplands-Bro Municipality works in accordance with the EST method, Effective Coordination for Safety, and as a field assistant, you play a crucial role in this work. You will also be part of safety-creating initiatives such as safety walks and various types of citizen meetings.
About the Work:
- Collaboration occurs with many other professionals, and the field group works closely with schools, police, leisure services, and social services.
- Contact with parents and other important adults is also part of the fieldwork. The work occurs at the individual, group, and structural levels. This means that the outreach work is complemented by holding training sessions (for youth and staff), participating in meetings, and leading and participating in various collaboration forums.
- The work takes place during the day, evenings, and weekends. During the day, fieldwork is often conducted in various schools. In the evenings and on weekends, the field group moves around the municipality between different places where children and youth gather, such as outdoor meeting spots, events, and youth centers.
- Personal initiatives in the work are valued; we want employees to be able to use their full competence.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a social worker, behavioral scientist, social educator, or has another equivalent education.
- Has experience working with children and/or youth.
- Holds a valid driver's license (B).
- Is comfortable making contact and building relationships with youth and other professionals.
- Is a secure and clear adult in relation to the youth and has a good insight into youth cultures.
- Has a good ability to collaborate and find solutions together with others.
- Is proactive and curious.
- Is social and comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Is flexible and creative.
