Junior Power System Analyst
At the System division, you will work with the most exciting challenges of the electricity system – from the operational hour here and now to planning 40 years ahead. The great complexity and development opportunities make our work both stimulating and significant. Here you will gain a unique holistic perspective on the electricity system and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure a safe, sustainable, and efficient electricity supply.
About the position
In the role of junior power system analyst, your main tasks will be to identify investment needs in the electricity transmission network and propose and analyze solutions to address these. The work consists of network calculations to assess potential capacity allocation in connection cases, system stability, and long-term capacity needs in the national grid as well as between Sweden and other countries. You will learn from the ground up and perform load flow analyses and dynamic power system simulations. Your results will be documented in technical investigations and reports. Your studies will form the basis for decisions on investments in the grid and notifications to those wishing to connect to the network.
Working with network development is creative, and we actively work to increasingly combine traditional network measures with new system solutions to find cost- and time-effective ways to release more network capacity. The role involves extensive collaboration both internally and with external actors such as other electricity system operators, Swedish regional grid companies, and electricity producers as well as large electricity users. In the investigations, you will work in research teams with expertise from different parts of Svenska kraftnät. You may have the opportunity to lead this team.
You will belong to the Network Development section, which is responsible for designing and developing the power system based on Svenska kraftnät's role as a grid owner and meeting the external demand for network capacity. The section consists of four units. This recruitment concerns filling vacancies in the units Power Grid Analysis Central and Power Grid Analysis South.
The units within the section currently consist of 6-7 employees each, and the ambition is for the units to grow. Three of the units work with analyses within geographically defined areas, while the fourth unit works with long-term strategic issues. We have a strong sense of cohesion and value respect for each other, curiosity, openness, and caring for one another.
About you
Requirements:
Since the role involves collaboration both internally and with external actors, we are looking for someone who works well with others. You adapt and find solutions through an unpretentious focus on the common goal. You have the ability to organize and lead investigations and complete what has been started while meeting deadlines. You work diligently to achieve goals and do what is necessary for a good result. In the role, you will perform analyses to assess capacity limits, system stability, and long-term capacity needs in the transmission network and to abroad, so it is important that you have the ability to see logic and connections in complex information. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has a master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field for the position, such as electrical power or energy, or equivalent experience acquired in another way that Svenska kraftnät deems equivalent.
Additionally, you have:
- good understanding of power systems
- ease of expression both verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
We consider it meritorious if you have:
- practical experience in analyzing power systems and their components, in PSS/E or equivalent, and programming in Python or equivalent.
Good to know
