Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm is Hiring Nurses
Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm provides forensic psychiatric care for patients from all over Stockholm County and has approximately 550 employees distributed across two sections.
The clinic has 15 care departments and 2 outpatient clinics. The operations are spread across three facilities located at Helix, Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, and Löwenströmska Hospital in Upplands Väsby.
We are now looking for one to two nurses for daytime shifts in departments M66-M68, which is a care unit in security class 3. The unit consists of two departments located at Karolinska Hospital Huddinge (HS). There are 14 patients in each department, the majority of whom are men.
Our departments primarily receive patients who have been committed to care under the Forensic Psychiatric Care Act (LRV). Many of the patients we care for have long-term and severe mental disorders. There is often also a substance abuse issue involved.
The goal of forensic psychiatric care is to habilitate and rehabilitate patients for a life in society with increased psychosocial functioning and reduced risk of reoffending.
Working in a care department provides the opportunity to work long-term with patients alongside a professional team of caregivers and nursing colleagues. In addition to nurses and nursing assistants, a unit manager and an assistant unit manager work closely with the operations. A senior physician is attached to the unit, responsible for the patients. Social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists are also important resources in the work.
Job Responsibilities
As a nurse, you have a clear leadership role in the department with primary responsibility for care planning and are responsible for a care team alongside caregivers/nursing assistants. Work is conducted during day/evening/weekend shifts according to a fixed schedule.
The weeks in the unit are characterized by a clear daily structure for the patients. The departments gather patients on weekday mornings to go through the activities provided, which patients can participate in, such as cleaning their rooms, having conversations with psychologists or contact persons, participating in physical activities, etc. Some patients in class 3 have progressed further in their release, allowing them to move outside the hospital.
We who work in M66-M68 have the opportunity for a peaceful lunch break, breaks with colleagues to exchange thoughts and ideas, regular training initiatives, etc. Every Wednesday after lunch is set aside for meetings such as nursing meetings, staff meetings, and departmental meetings.
The team spirit is important in the unit, which makes collaboration, helpfulness, and “kindness” important principles for everyone. The unit manager and assistant unit manager are always available for support if needed.
Qualifications
We are looking for a licensed nurse. Specialist training in psychiatry is an advantage; otherwise, you have good opportunities for further education during paid working hours with us. Previous experience in psychiatry, addiction care, and/or correctional care is advantageous.
In your interactions with patients, you are always professional, attentive, and non-judgmental. You are helpful but can also be clear and set boundaries when necessary. You have excellent teamwork skills and enjoy working in a team while also having the ability to work independently and lead others.
Other
As an employee with us, you will have opportunities to develop in your role as a nurse while also gaining access to benefits such as wellness grants of up to 5000 SEK/year, free health care, and flexible working hours.
The healthcare system is based on respect for human dignity. All people have equal value and the same rights regardless of personal characteristics and functions in society. We expect you, as an employee with us, to share these values.
We apply drug testing and background checks in connection with employment. The position is filled on the condition that it is not needed for internal relocation, according to current regulations.
