The Malmö emergency department is one of Skåne University Hospital's (Sus) largest operations. We take care of approximately 80,000 patients per year, of which about 6,000 are children. Today, we are also considered one of Sweden's largest emergency departments.
Our vision is to be Sweden's best emergency department, where our work is characterized by a focus on reception, accessibility, and competence. To ensure that our employees have the best possible conditions to work together towards our vision, we invest heavily in training to continuously improve competence in our workplace.
We are about 190 employees who together are responsible for the initial, acute management of severely ill and injured patients in medicine, infection, surgery, urology, and orthopedics. During on-call hours, we also have an ear department. Here, several emergency medicine specialists work, and many doctors are in specialist training to become emergency physicians. There are also several specialist-trained emergency nurses and more who are studying to become specialist nurses in emergency care.
We are a values-driven organization, which is evident in both our daily work and the decisions we make. We want to be a welcoming workplace that shows care and respect for others while being proactive in developing our working methods to meet the future.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We now have the opportunity to welcome two new colleagues to our Emergency Department.
With us, you will have the opportunity to work with nursing and treatment in the care of the acutely ill patient in an exciting and active environment. You will also be offered development opportunities in the form of training to enhance your skills, as well as other internal and external professional development needed to work in the emergency department.
In Malmö, we offer you a broad foundation with a six-week clinical introduction in our teams based on blocks where we work across medicine/neurology, surgery, and orthopedics, with progression through gradually increased responsibility, internships in the alarm room, and triage.
In addition, there will be block-specific lectures on topics such as neurology, acid-base balance, and EKG, training in medical technology and our triage tool RETTS, as well as regular scheduled reflection time with our clinical teacher and the nurse responsible for education. On your first day with us, you will be welcomed by your future unit manager, who will show you around the emergency department.
You will work 38.25 hours/week and be employed in a combined day and night shift. You will work two out of five weekends. We offer a schedule with a quota agreement, which means there is an opportunity to reduce weekly working hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. If you have at least one year of work experience as a nurse, this is considered highly meritorious.
If you see the value of good collaboration and contribute to this through flexibility and engagement, you will thrive with us. It is important to us that you have a genuine interest in emergency care and that you want to develop together with us. To thrive with us, you should feel secure in your role and be able to prioritize your tasks in the critical situations that may arise in a department like ours. If you are curious and see the value of good collaboration, to which you contribute by sharing your knowledge and experiences, you will thrive with us. Your commitment and positive attitude contribute to a good work climate, where we all help each other to achieve the best care quality for our patients. Since we care deeply about a good work climate, we place great importance on personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we apply ongoing selection, and interviews may begin before the application period has expired. We warmly welcome your application today; we look forward to getting to know you!
