About the Position:

At DevPort, we are looking for an experienced Diagnostic Engineer to join our product development team in Gothenburg. In this role, you will work on diagnostic development for both ICE (internal combustion engines) and electromobility, ensuring that products meet legal requirements and maintain the highest possible reliability.

You will play a central role in developing diagnostic strategies, serving as a technical advisor on OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) requirements, and leading methodologies and processes for coordinating diagnostic-related activities. You will be an important cog in a team where you will have the opportunity to influence future working methods and build expertise in the field in the long term.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for diagnostic development strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interpret and break down requirements from standards, legislation, and internal quality processes.
• Collaborate with functional development teams, system architects, safety engineers, and testing departments.
• Lead the work on Ways of Working and best practices for diagnostic work.

We expect you to have:

• At least 5 years of experience in diagnostic work, such as testing, fault injection, calibration, or requirements management within vehicles, marine systems, fuel cells, or electrical distribution systems.
• Deep understanding of OBD regulations and how they are applied in practice.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work systematically with complex technical requirements.
• Interest and curiosity for technology—Volvo Penta's product portfolio is broad and includes heavy road vehicles, off-road, generators, and marine commercial and recreational applications.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience interpreting regulations and standards.
• Previous participation in activities related to functional safety (e.g., ISO 26262).
• Experience with requirements management tools such as SE-Tool or System Weaver.
• Experience in both ICE and electric drivetrains.
