Leisure Leader for New Youth Center in Hyllie

Are you an engaged leisure leader driven by working with youth and want to be part of starting a new initiative? Then this is the position for you. We are now looking for a leisure leader for a new youth center in Hyllie, opening in August. Here you will have a unique opportunity to help build a safe and meaningful meeting place for young people.

Job Responsibilities

You now have the opportunity to help start a completely new youth center. In August, the doors to Hyllie Youth Center will open, and we are looking for leisure leaders who want to develop and shape the operations together with young people and colleagues.

The youth center targets young people aged 12–18 years and aims to be a safe, inclusive, and inspiring meeting place where youth feel welcome.

As a leisure leader, you will plan and implement leisure activities focusing on open activities, group activities, and outreach work. You will work to create a meaningful leisure time for young people and have a coaching approach where you support youth's ideas and projects and guide them towards an active and developing leisure.

Together with your colleagues, you will collaborate with local actors to broaden the operations and create an attractive youth center. You are also expected to initiate and drive projects in collaboration with the target group and participate in partnerships with other youth centers, associations, and municipal activities.

Within the youth center unit, you will collaborate with other meeting places for both large and small events as well as during holiday activities. Collaboration with various actors, both municipal activities and civil society, is an important part of the mission.

Your schedule includes regular day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a leisure leader education from a folk high school or other relevant post-secondary education
• Has experience working with youth aged 12–18 years
• Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

It is advantageous if you:

• Have experience in driving projects or developing leisure activities
• Have knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and youth participation
• Have experience in outreach youth work
• Have worked with or been engaged in community life

As a person, you are good at structuring and organizing your work, both independently and together with others. You are positive and development-oriented and show a great commitment to the operations and visitors. You have a strong ability to create good and sustainable relationships, among other things by being a good listener. You have good collaboration skills and find it easy to connect with new people, both youth and other professionals. You need to be innovative and have the ability to create collaborations, as the operations are being built from the ground up.

Under the leisure administration's youth center unit, 19 youth centers operate around the city with activities aimed at the target group of 12–18 years. The youth centers offer meaningful leisure for young people and contribute to providing children and youth with opportunities to be included and participate in their leisure.
