Welcome to us

Ormkärrsskolan has been an independent school unit since autumn 2023.

The school is located in the Ormkärr area with proximity to beautiful nature areas and a large schoolyard. At Ormkärrsskolan, which is a F-6 school, approximately 190 students attend.

Since the school has recently become an independent school unit, there is an opportunity to help build the school and contribute to something new. Ormkärrsskolan is a small school where everyone knows each other, both students and staff. We create a safe environment to provide good conditions for students to learn and develop academically and socially. The staff at the school help each other, flexibility and the willingness to go the extra mile are particularly important in a small school.

The school has worked for several years on professional development regarding accessible learning environments to meet all students' right to a good education. The school day should be predictable and clear, and students should feel that they are developing and succeeding. During the spring term of 2024, the school has started training in language and knowledge-developing working methods. The training is expected to last for at least two years.

Your role

In addition to working as a teacher in the after-school program, you will teach 4 groups in wood and metal crafts per school week, and therefore you need to have qualifications in wood and metal crafts. As a craft teacher, it is important that you have good knowledge of safety and that you motivate students in your subject. You have good knowledge of NPF (neuropsychiatric disabilities) and find good solutions to keep students active throughout the lesson.

At Ormkärrsskolan, we work with a cohesive school day, which means that you collaborate in class during school days when you do not have craft lessons. The assignment involves collaborating in the classroom during lesson time and supporting students' learning in various ways based on the class's needs. This may involve the class teacher and after-school program teacher dividing the class into groups or working with students in need of special support based on the teachers' planning in adjacent group rooms.

In your role as a teacher in the after-school program, you will be responsible for ensuring that the teaching is designed in accordance with the Education Act, the curriculum, and other national and municipal governing documents.

In the after-school program, you and your colleagues offer students a meaningful free time by starting from the students' needs, interests, and experiences, but also by continuously challenging the students further and inspiring new discoveries. In the teaching, you work to promote students' imagination, empathy, and ability to learn together with others through play, movement, and creation with aesthetic expressions as well as exploratory and practical methods.

Together with your colleagues, you strive for a trusting, open, and respectful collaboration with homes to provide a holistic perspective on the student's learning and development.

At Ormkärrsskolan, we read aloud to all students in the after-school program. You will read aloud to groups of about 25 students and lead activities and discussions around what you have read.

As a teacher in wood and metal crafts and a teacher in the after-school program, you should:

  • Plan and implement teaching in collaboration with other staff based on the curriculum's goals and other applicable governing documents.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educators in the classroom and work with student support.
  • Create situations where students succeed; your view of children is characterized by respect and the belief that all students can and want to develop.
  • Build relationships and in daily work awaken students' interest and encourage them to learn.
  • Use a low-arousal approach, be professional, and adapt your communication based on the situation.

Your qualifications and experience

Required:

  • Certified teacher in wood and metal crafts for grades 3-6. It is an advantage if you are also qualified in textile crafts.
  • Certified teacher in the after-school program.

Meritorious

  • Two years of experience working as a teacher in wood and metal crafts.
  • Two years of experience working as a teacher in the after-school program.
  • Experience in conducting teaching that allows students to develop ideas, solve problems, and implement those ideas in practice.
  • Experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities.

You are secure, stable, have good self-awareness, and adapt your approach depending on the situation. You appreciate working towards goals and focus on continuous improvements in the operation and your own professional practice. You have good collaboration skills with colleagues, students, and guardians. You have good ability to listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You are structured in that you plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.

You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
