At the hematology departments in Lund, we primarily care for patients with malignant blood diseases where stem cell transplantation is an important part of the treatment. On the ward, nurses, care assistants, medical secretaries, and doctors work together. We have a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and dietitian as part of our fantastic team. Working in our team is inspiring because patients feel seen, acknowledged, and well cared for. We have a strong sense of cohesion that creates security. We are all important puzzle pieces, and together we create and develop our workplace.

Our care assistant team works with exciting and developing tasks in the field, which creates stimulation and enjoyment. Our patient group is diverse in age, and we have the opportunity to build wonderful relationships with our patients.

The department is characterized by a sense of togetherness and teamwork, which means that even on days when the pace is high, we care about helping and supporting each other. We are keen to ensure that you, as a new employee, settle into your role well, and therefore you will be welcomed with a well-structured introduction program. When you start with us, you will receive at least three weeks of introduction, followed by an introductory training after a couple of months. To help you grow in your professional role, we offer continuous internal and external further education.

We are working on development projects in nursing and nursing research. We are one of the first pilot departments within the Magnet Model, which is characterized by working for a good working environment and care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

With us, you will have a varied job in a positive environment with interdisciplinary teams around the patient and their relatives. As a care assistant in hematology, you see the whole patient and adapt your care to the patient's various needs during their hospital stay. This means that you can follow newly diagnosed leukemia patients from the start of chemotherapy treatment via stem cell transplantation until the patient is declared healthy and followed up through our outpatient unit. There are times when we know that the patient will not recover, where you have an important task to develop a palliative treatment plan to create a secure last period for the patient.

As a care assistant, you are responsible for the direct care of the patients, where nutrition, physical activity, and psychosocial support are some of the important areas to work with. Since we care for infection-sensitive patients, you also ensure that a high hygiene standard is maintained for the patients. In your work, you will also be involved in stem cell administration and assist doctors with bone marrow sampling, biopsies, and lumbar punctures.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who have an approved care assistant education. For the position, it is required that you have good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. If you have previous work experience from a similar operation, we see it as an advantage. Additionally, knowledge of our journal system Melior is meritorious for the position.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of care assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of care assistant in health and social care. If you currently have a permanent position as a care assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title as a care assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you need to be able to present proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by the transitional provisions, it means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not care assistant.
