County Veterinarian for the Food Safety Unit

The County Administrative Board of Skåne is a government authority at the regional level responsible for state administration in the county. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county based on regional conditions. Within our assignments, we provide advice, permits, and supervision, as well as plans and strategies. We manage natural areas and distribute financial support. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the county.

Description

The County Administrative Board is seeking a county veterinarian for the Food Safety Unit within the Rural Development Department.

Your workplace will be at our office in Kristianstad. The employment is permanent, with a 6-month probationary period. Start date after the summer by agreement.

The Food Safety Unit works in many different areas, including disease control, supervision of animal health personnel, monitoring of drug use, food and feed issues, and animal by-products, as well as controls of animal identification, cross-compliance, etc. The work consists of inspections, advice, and coordination with other authorities.

Responsibilities

As a county veterinarian in the Food Safety Unit, you will work with monitoring animal health personnel and drug use on farms, hygiene, disease control, and preparedness issues, as well as food safety matters. The work includes collaboration with other authorities and organizations, as well as media contacts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a Swedish veterinary license who is passionate about veterinary public health and the one health perspective. You may have experience in regulatory work or a strong interest in it. We also prefer candidates who have clinical experience and knowledge of agricultural animals. The work involves a lot of administrative tasks, so you should have well-developed administrative skills.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.

You need to communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and be able to adapt your expression to the audience. The work requires good collaboration skills in both internal and external relationships. You should be able to work independently but also function well in a team. You have a good ability to take initiative, be proactive, and effectively and independently carry out your work according to established timelines. You need to be able to prioritize and make decisive actions under time pressure. The role of county veterinarian is constantly evolving, and we appreciate curiosity and a willingness to learn new things.

Security Classification

The County Administrative Board has an important coordinating role during societal disturbances, and therefore we place high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Some of our positions are security classified and may also involve military placement at the authority, which means that a security clearance must be conducted before a hiring decision is made. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
