Västerbergslagens Education Association, VBU, is a municipal association that conducts upper secondary education, adult education, higher vocational education, and commissioned training. We operate on behalf of the municipalities of Ludvika and Smedjebacken. VBU has about 250 employees, approximately 3,000 students, and a turnover of about 260 million SEK. Our operations are conducted in Ludvika, Smedjebacken, and Grängesberg. More information about our various schools can be found on our website. The Cultural School has been part of Västerbergslagens Education Association since 2019.
Västerbergslagens Cultural School has about 900 active students in subjects such as music, dance, theater, visual arts, and digital creation, with a total of 25 educators. The Cultural School primarily targets children and youth but can also accommodate adult students as space allows. Collaboration is a key principle for us; we want our students to experience and participate in both larger and smaller contexts, ranging from student evenings, chamber concerts, and vernissages to large dance performances, spring soirées, and major concerts. Every year, the Cultural School's teacher ensemble conducts a popular Christmas tour to the municipalities' schools and nursing homes, and every other year we also perform school shows for lower and middle grades.
