About the Department

The Pathology Laboratory is a department in change and development with a strong focus on digitalization within diagnostics.

Within clinical pathology in Borås, we are about 34 employees who enjoy working closely together. We are biomedical analysts, laboratory assistants, cytodiagnosticians, medical secretaries, pathologists, and autopsy technicians.

Are you an Assistant Nurse who wants to work as a Lab Technician?

Are you an assistant nurse who wants to work as a lab technician and also has an interest in specializing and training to become an autopsy technician? Do you have work experience, for example, as a funeral director? Then you could be our new colleague!

What do we offer?

This is a varied position where you will work both as a lab technician and, after completing your training, as an autopsy technician. You will study part-time in autopsy and work the remaining time as a laboratory technician in the lab. The training to become an autopsy technician takes place on-site in our department and includes both theoretical and practical components. The training is one year long and concludes with a final examination. Salary is provided throughout the training period.

Job Responsibilities

The work involves handling a wide range of tasks, from preparing and assisting in autopsies to performing administrative and practical tasks in the laboratory, such as registering and preparing cytology samples. You will have a lot of contact with various internal and external stakeholders, such as relatives, funeral homes, the police, doctors, and lab personnel, among others.

About You

For the position, you must be a trained assistant nurse with a professional certificate. It is advantageous if you have previously worked with the handling of deceased individuals, for example, as a funeral director or similar.

You have a good ability to collaborate and are confident and stable in yourself, as well as able to adapt to different situations. You work from an ethical standpoint that means you advocate for the equal value of all people and respect for their integrity. You are attentive and show care in your interactions with colleagues, relatives, and others you collaborate with. Since the work involves contact with our customers, it is important that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

The employment will start as a six-month probationary period. Interviews and selection will take place continuously during the advertising period.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of assistant nurse is a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of assistant nurse within healthcare and social services.
