Your tasks

As a student employee, you are offered the opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practice and gain valuable work experience. Our workplaces also benefit from new perspectives and research through your input. You will have a personal supervisor during your time as a student employee, and together we will establish a plan based on your circumstances that does not hinder your studies.

In the assignment, you will primarily review how we can use technical possibilities to effectively compile and work with structured data. You will assist the finance unit in collecting relevant economic data from the operations and investigate and test ways to compile and analyze that data in a manner that meets the needs for economic management. Within the framework of the assignment, you will work with controllers from the finance unit and have contact with project managers within the organization.

Your workplace

The Environmental and Community Building Administration consists of approximately 300 employees who work in various ways to develop and shape a sustainable and attractive Linköping.

You will belong to the finance unit, which is a central support function within the administration with 8 employees. The assignment will primarily focus on the administration's activities regarding land exploitation and municipal investments, which develop the municipality's own land and carry out investments in public places such as parks, streets, etc. The operations incur large expenses and revenues and require continuous economic monitoring and management, and we are now developing our structure and technical solution for handling and compiling the economic data we have in project calculations, financial systems, etc.

Who you are

Linköping Municipality collaborates with other municipalities and several municipal companies in the region regarding student employees. The concept is an agreement between all municipalities and Linköping University. To be employed as a student employee, you must begin your final year of a bachelor's, master's, or master's program.

We are therefore looking for you who will start your final year in the fall of 2025 in a bachelor's, master's, or master's program in statistics and data analysis, systems science, IT and management, business administration, or another education that the employer deems equivalent. You should have an interest in data-driven analysis and how to use technical solutions to compile information and create user interfaces. You need to have good knowledge of Excel or equivalent spreadsheet programs. Since the position involves handling and drafting your own written materials, you have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing. It is advantageous if you have experience working with data analysis and forecasting work. Furthermore, it is desirable if you have experience working with databases and data collection. Experience with BI tools, Power Query, and similar tools is considered a merit.

You work well with complex issues and analyze, break down, and solve complicated problems. Furthermore, you understand numerical data and solve numerical tasks quickly and accurately. To succeed in the assignment, it is important that you take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. You take responsibility for your task, work in a structured manner, and drive processes forward.
