Cancer Center is a university hospital unit. The clinic has a regional responsibility for medical hematology, oncology, and radiation therapy in the northern region (Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland). Nearly 400 people work with us, providing care that spans from intensive cancer treatment to palliative care in the patient's home. Research and development are important to us at Cancer Center and a prerequisite for continuing to develop cutting-edge care.

Palliative medicine offers specialized palliative care in Västerbotten to patients with progressive incurable diseases, regardless of diagnosis and age. The focus of the operation is on specialized home care with teams in Skellefteå and Umeå. Palliative consultation teams work broadly with healthcare providers and patients, originating from Skellefteå, Lycksele, and Umeå. Palliative medicine provides medical services at Axlagården hospice in Umeå. As a specialist in Palliative medicine, you will staff the region's emergency line for Palliative medicine throughout Västerbotten.

Palliative care is provided based on the four cornerstones: symptom relief, teamwork, communication, and support for relatives, to alleviate physical, psychological, social, and existential suffering. Palliative care strives to affirm life and views dying as a natural process.

Palliative Medicine is now seeking a physician for a temporary position in Skellefteå. This could be an opportunity for you to try a different working method and gain knowledge and skills in palliative care through practical work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The work is based on pronounced teamwork with other professional groups. The tasks include home visits to severely ill patients for assessments, conversations, prescriptions, and follow-ups. We work closely with the patient and their relatives. In addition to physical visits, the work is also conducted remotely using digital solutions.

The majority of patients you will meet are in specialized palliative home care, but also through our consulting work. You will receive guidance from the unit's specialists in Palliative medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS

Swedish medical license, with appropriate clinical specialist training. We require good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 and a B driver's license.

OTHER

Temporary position for 6 months with a possible opportunity to further apply for a ST position in Palliative medicine if another base specialty. On-call duty may occur based on competence. Placement is Palliative medicine Västerbotten with primary work in Skellefteå.
