Job Advertisement: Nurse at SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with addiction. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with addiction across the country. With us at SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work, or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS youth home Bergsmansgården receives non-compulsory school-age girls. We operate in Fjugesta, thirty kilometers west of Örebro, and are now planning to open a satellite unit in Granhult, thirty kilometers north of Lindesberg. The girls come to us because they have psychosocial issues as well as problems with criminality or substance abuse.

Job Description

As a nurse with us at SiS LVU home, you collaborate with other professionals in an important societal mission to help the most vulnerable. Your competence is sought after and vital.

Being a nurse at Bergsmansgården is very different, but also one of the most rewarding and enjoyable jobs you will ever find. The workplace varies between reception work, contact with youth, training of staff, student health, and collaboration in multiprofessional teams. You work with youth who often have not had a positive experience with health care, or sometimes no experience at all. Additionally, you contribute to a stable everyday life, which is seen as part of their trauma treatment.

You perform assessments of our clients' physical and mental health based on your professional role. You are responsible for medication administration, participate in rounds with doctors, contribute to treatment planning, multidisciplinary team meetings, and collaborate with external actors. Other common tasks include incident management, documentation, coordination of care efforts, health conversations, as well as consultation and advice on health care issues for our clients. You work closely with other professionals in the institution, such as management, psychologists, and departmental staff, which requires good collaboration skills.

Qualifications

You consider the whole in everything you do and choose the right strategies to achieve your goals of helping our youth in health and welfare issues. You are independent and flexible, which helps you succeed in a changing everyday life. Furthermore, you are pedagogical and reach out to those who need it the most, even when it is occasionally difficult. Additional keys to your success are the communicative ability and initiative you demonstrate both in collaborations with your colleagues and with the youth.

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse.

  • A few years of experience that makes you confident in your professional role.
  • Experience in meeting people in vulnerable life situations.
  • Driver's license (B) and access to your own car.
  • You have a good empathetic ability with a burning interest in a complex target group with many different needs.
  • You are guided by the state’s value base and can reflect from an ethical perspective in complex situations.
  • You have the ability to prioritize tasks and make good judgments, as well as show discretion in statements, actions, and decision-making.
  • You are respectful in your interactions, can be clear and show care in your relationships with patients and colleagues, and have the ability to collaborate and be flexible in an organization that is a place for change.
  • You enjoy working closely with patients while also guiding treatment staff and providing support in health care work.
  • You can work in a politically governed organization with several legal frameworks.
  • You can express yourself in speech and writing and have the ability to create good professional relationships, security, stability, and a positive outlook on life.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience from work within student health
  • Specialist training in psychiatry
  • Experience in addiction care, psychiatry, emergency care, or similar.

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation. Read more about our employee relations.

Employment:

The position is a permanent employment at 50%. The employment begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.

Application:

Welcome to register your application in our recruitment tool no later than May 9. Interviews and selection may take place on an ongoing basis.

Make sure to answer the selection questions thoroughly. They are the basis for our selection process.

SiS actively works against all forms of discrimination and welcomes all applicants. For work at our institutions, SiS conducts background checks before employment.
