Do you want to work in a surgical emergency care unit and be part of the continued development of the emergency and trauma section at Östersund Hospital?

In 2024, we plan to expand the department with 3 monitoring places where surgical patients with increased care needs/monitoring will be treated. At Surgical Ward 3, KAVA, we operate based on a concept where teamwork, high physician presence, patient participation, and continuous educational efforts are important components. We also work with needs-based bedside rounds and daily management.

Östersund Hospital is the only hospital in the Region of Jämtland Härjedalen and receives emergency and trauma patients from the entire region. We are responsible for both the residents and a very large and increasing number of tourists during both summer and winter. This places high demands on us regarding competence and resources. The Region of Jämtland Härjedalen is one of the largest employers in the county with approximately 4,200 employees. Together, we work to develop the region's healthcare. RESPONSIBILITIES

Patients come to the acute surgical department via the emergency department to start investigation and treatment. The focus is on diagnostics, treatment, monitoring, and good nursing care. We work in multidisciplinary teams where a care team consists of a nurse, nursing assistant, and physician in collaboration with several other functions such as care planning nurse, pharmacist, medical secretary, occupational therapist, and physiotherapist. A lead nurse is present to lead and support during the day, and a unit coordinator is responsible for phone communication, ordering transports, and performing administrative tasks. The length of stay varies from 1 day to longer depending on the patient's condition and need for emergency care.

We are now looking for someone who is interested in surgical care and enjoys a structured emergency response with the goal of providing our patients with the best possible care. You will be welcomed into a workgroup that enjoys their work and each other!

We offer a 6-week introduction where observation in other units within the surgical area is included so that you can gain insight and get to know the entire area's operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed nurse with competence and interest in trauma and surgical care, but also for those who are new as nurses or just want to take on new challenges. You have a positive attitude, are good at communicating, and have good collaboration skills. You are engaged and interested in both developing yourself and helping others develop. We consider further education in surgical nursing as an asset. We encourage professional development, therefore there are good opportunities to study to become a specialist nurse in surgical care with us.
