Do you want to help shape the future of wildlife management in Sweden?
With us, you will be at the heart of the development of Swedish wildlife management and work with the legislation that governs hunting and wildlife.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is the central administrative authority for hunting and wildlife issues. Together with other stakeholders, we work to implement wildlife policy and develop Swedish wildlife management. We are looking for a lawyer who wants to work with the legislation that regulates hunting and wildlife management.
The Position
is located at the Nature Conservation Unit, which, in addition to providing legal support in hunting and wildlife matters, works with environmental law focusing on, among other things, area protection, species protection, wind power, and Sami legal issues.
Your Responsibilities
The work as a lawyer in hunting and wildlife matters consists of two main focus areas. You will work with the review of hunting cases, i.e., the review of decisions made by the County Administrative Boards that have been appealed. You will also provide legal support to our Wildlife Management and Wildlife Analysis Units and assist in the development of regulations, guidance, support in case management, and government assignments. The work is based on a consultative approach. You will develop close cooperation with, among others, natural scientists in both national and EU legal matters.
Your Competence
We are looking for someone who has a law degree (jur. kand.) or equivalent legal education and at least a few years of experience in legal work, preferably from a government agency or equivalent. Experience in developing regulations, reviews, wildlife management, administrative law, or EU law is advantageous, as is clerkship or equivalent experience in court work, preferably from administrative courts. Documented knowledge of wildlife management is also an advantage. You can communicate well in spoken and written Swedish and, if necessary, use English in your work.
Personal Qualities
We place great importance on your personal qualities. You are responsible with a holistic perspective and can be flexible when circumstances change. You can quickly familiarize yourself with new areas and drive work forward in a structured and solution-oriented manner. To thrive with us, you need to be able to collaborate with external stakeholders and work with colleagues with different perspectives and competencies. You are confident in the civil servant role, meaning you can remain objective and understand that you represent the authority.
About the Employment
We are looking for a wildlife lawyer for a fixed-term full-time position from September 1 to December 31, 2025. The position is based at one of our offices in Stockholm or Östersund. There is an opportunity to work remotely. We apply individual salary setting. Travel in the service may occur.
Application
When you apply, you will need to answer a number of selection questions related to the requirements profile in the advertisement. Your answers will be used as part of the selection process and may determine whether you proceed in the recruitment process. It is therefore important that you respond as thoroughly and clearly as possible. We do not use cover letters in the selection process because we want to focus on your experience and competence, which contributes to a more efficient and fair recruitment process. In your application to us, you only attach your CV.
Warmly welcome your application by May 4, 2025.
