Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine (KITM) is part of the Laboratory Medicine Department and is an accredited unit offering diagnostics in clinical immunology as well as round-the-clock laboratory services and medical expertise for blood transfusions. Our staff consists of approximately 60 employees, including doctors, nurses, biomedical analysts, and nursing assistants.

In clinical immunology, you will have a broad contact area with other medical specialties where you will take on a guiding role based on your knowledge and interpretation regarding laboratory diagnostics of, among other things, immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, inflammation, and allergies.

In Transfusion Medicine, blood typing and antibody investigations are performed, and we are responsible for drawing blood from donors to provide blood components to the region's patients and plasma for drug production. We also conduct patient treatments using apheresis techniques, such as plasma exchange and autologous stem cell harvesting.

The Laboratory Medicine Department has a collective responsibility for the laboratory medical services provided at the laboratories within Örebro University Hospital, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindesberg Hospital. We run a broad operation in the fields of clinical chemistry, bacteriology, virology, immunology, transfusion medicine including therapeutic plasma exchange treatment, pathology, cytology, and molecular genetics. The department also includes Sterile Technology. Here, nearly 300 people work with routine diagnostics, research and development, and education.

We are looking for a licensed physician who has an interest in the field of immunology and transfusion medicine. You will have a varied job primarily within laboratory diagnostics focusing on immunological and transfusion medicine investigations, but there will also be contact with blood donors and patients.

Licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. Experience in laboratory work and/or clinical work in close collaboration with KITM, as well as interest or experience in research related to KITM specialty, is an advantage.
