Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago with a unique combination of the serene beauty of nature and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not one but many: schools, real estate, social services, ports, healthcare, libraries, care, and many more. We strive to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who enable the dream of a vibrant and secure environment for homes, families, and businesses.
To fully succeed, we must have many and extensive competencies and work together for a common and trusting work culture, built on brave, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents. This is what we call One Värmdö, One Administration.
The Technical Operations Department is one of eight departments within the Community Building Office.
The Technical Operations Department consists of activities related to roads, parks, sports, nature and outdoor life, as well as outdoor environments. The department consists of about 45 employees. The operations are largely managed in-house for maintenance and care assignments.
The department is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipality's public facilities, such as roads, parks, playgrounds, natural areas, sports facilities, and outdoor environments on municipal properties. The department has management responsibility for public facilities, which includes maintenance and reinvestment planning for the facilities and is the receiving party for new and upcoming projects. This provides great opportunities for development with others in a continuous learning environment.
Tasks that you will handle independently or together with colleagues include: handling referrals and permits, traffic management plans, and local traffic regulations, abandoned vehicles, parking supervision, signage and painting, speed measurements, and paving programs. You will respond to incoming comments and inquiries from citizens or other stakeholders. Decisions in matters are partially delegated or need to be prepared for committee decisions, where you will draft these matters and be able to present them.
In the role of traffic engineer/street engineer, you will represent the municipality in various contexts, together with colleagues or independently, in meetings with road maintainers and other stakeholders. The department works closely with other departments within the Community Building Office as well as other offices with many collaborative areas both internally and externally. We work for strategic and long-term sustainability in technical operations and maintenance.
We are looking for someone with relevant education in community building with several years of experience working with operations and maintenance as well as traffic issues, preferably in a municipality. We also appreciate if you have experience in project management and can lead smaller traffic and street projects during the implementation phase related to traffic measures and the expansion of pedestrian and bicycle paths. You should enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in various contexts and projects that run in parallel. For the role, it is required that you have very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Good knowledge of the Office suite and computer skills are also necessary. You need to have a good understanding of traffic regulations and road laws as well as documented experience in the tasks mentioned in the job description. We place great importance on social skills and personal suitability.
As a person, you are driven, can take initiatives but are also a team player who enjoys collaborating, is communicative, and can steer projects towards set goals. You handle unexpected situations with calmness and focus. You can provide guidance on traffic, operations, and maintenance issues in various contexts.
Värmdö Municipality offers, among other things, a wellness allowance, SL card against net salary deduction, and vacation conversion to extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good working environment and apply smoke-free working hours.
We value the qualities that diversity brings to the organization and therefore welcome applicants from various backgrounds.
The position is full-time and starts according to agreement.
