Josefine Guldbrand concludes her tenure as operations manager at the Women's House in Örebro
In an office in the heart of the Women's House in Örebro, we meet the operations manager Josefine Guldbrand, who is soon concluding her assignment.
Her voice is warm as she talks about the important work that the Women's House Örebro carries out – an activity that extends far beyond the physical walls. Here, protection, support, and hope are offered to women and children facing their life's greatest challenges.
– The job as operations manager is the most rewarding I have ever had. I get to be a part of something bigger, where every challenge and every feeling I encounter along the way contributes to building a future where violence no longer has a place, says Josefine.
After several years in the role of operations manager, Josefine will soon pass the baton to a new leader – a prestigious assignment that will require both heart and action.
– The one who takes over must have a great commitment to civil society and a genuine understanding of the situation of women and children exposed to violence. It is a job that places high demands on both leadership and presence, but at the same time, it is an opportunity to truly make a difference, she continues.
A home for support and change
The Women's House works with three main areas: sheltered accommodation, counseling, and outward activities in the form of lectures and knowledge dissemination. The activity focuses on meeting new victims of violence and support seekers in the crisis they are in, while the long-term work to break the cycles of violence is at the center.
– When a woman and her children step through our doors, they should feel safe. Everything we do, big or small, is about creating a stable foundation for their security and future, says Josefine.
She also talks about the importance of supporting the employees, who daily meet clients in difficult life situations.
– Our staff is fantastic and does an incredible job. As a manager, it is my role to be close and available, to support and remind them that they are doing the right thing in their roles.
A future to shape
The new operations manager will not only manage but also shape the Women's House forward. The role requires a balance between operational work and strategic leadership, a clear vision, and a willingness to develop both the activity and the team.
– Our work is part of a larger societal change where the long-term goal is a society where women and children live free from men's violence. As an operations manager, one needs to understand the connection between the board's strategic mission and the operational responsibility in everyday life. It is important to be a problem solver and at the same time a clear and confident leader, explains Josefine.
An opportunity to influence
Working at the Women's House is not just a job – it is an opportunity to contribute to something greater. Josefine looks back on her time with pride and warmth.
– I have had the privilege of leading an operation where people are passionate about helping others. We do it together, and that is precisely the core of our work – to influence for a society free from violence.
For those who take on the role of operations manager, a daily life filled with challenges and opportunities awaits – an opportunity to shape the future of an operation that changes lives and builds hope, every day. Are you the right person for the job?
