SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, accommodates school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing transformations for vulnerable individuals? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue or treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. You will work in a team together with treatment assistants, treatment pedagogues, and treatment coordinators. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often encounter people in crisis, which means you will work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in daily life.

Our operations run 24/7, and those working night shifts are responsible for the well-being and safety of the young people. The main focus is to promote their sleep routines and to be there for them when needed. Nighttime is often the most challenging time of day for many. Sleep problems are very common among our youth, which makes a reliable adult who can offer support in the form of conversation or other means a crucial piece of the puzzle. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and participate in working towards a continually better SiS. Nighttime duties include cleaning and ordering groceries.

This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable boys in difficult life situations. The work can vary greatly in intensity from very calm nights to nights that require a lot from you as a caregiver, but it is also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

You will always work awake nights with us on shifts scheduled between 20:45-08:20 on weekdays and 20:45-09:15 on weekends. Regular staff work according to a rotating schedule. In addition to colleagues, there is a security service at the workplace.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with guided introduction and prepares you for the caregiver role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help individuals in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and have an easy time building relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You possess good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You collaborate well with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

As a treatment pedagogue, you have:

• A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent
• A valid driver's license (B)
• Good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form

Meritorious:

• Experience working with individuals in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
• Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., as a correctional officer
• Security guard training
• Training in health and care
• Experience working with youth care

As a treatment assistant, you have:

• Completed secondary education.
• Completed secondary education refers to the following and applies to both vocational and academic preparatory programs:
• At least grade E in a minimum of 2250 points from a program that is 2500 points.
• At least grade E in the course Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1.
• At least grade E in English 5.
• At least grade E in Mathematics 1.
• Grade E in the final project.

Also, secondary education completed at Komvux is counted. Vocational training at Komvux must include the above criteria to be considered approved. Old two-year secondary education programs are also counted as approved. There is no limit for what grade counts as approved for numerical grades.

• A valid driver's license (B).
• Good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

• Experience in youth-related work.
• If you have experience working with youth in vulnerable situations.
• If you have training in MI (motivational interviewing).

Employment:

The position is a permanent part-time position at 85% and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
