Job Responsibilities

As a regional clinic, we have a broad mandate and are now looking for a specialist doctor who wants to be part of our development – while also having the opportunity to grow in your role.

With us, you will work with general and acute ophthalmological consultations while also having the chance to focus on a subspecialty.

The position includes on-call duties (standby B) and you are expected to participate in the training of our ST doctors. Limited work may also occur at one of our regional clinics.

About the Workplace

At the Eye Clinic Västmanland, 18 doctors work, of which 13 are specialists and five are ST doctors. The clinic is regional and includes units in Västerås, Köping, Sala, and Fagersta. The majority of the operations are based at Västmanlands Hospital Västerås. We have about 65 employees distributed among doctors, nurses, orthoptists, optometrists, opticians, medical secretaries, and administrative staff.

The clinic conducts a wide range of activities including pediatric ophthalmology, plastic surgery, glaucoma, and medical retina. We offer development opportunities in all areas.

At the surgical department, cataract surgery, strabismus surgery, eyelid/tear duct surgery, glaucoma surgery, and crosslinking are performed. We also have a large operation with injection treatments using anti-VEGF medications. The clinic is well-equipped with lasers for YAG, SLT, multi-spot/micro-pulse lasers, retinal lasers with eye trackers for retinal treatment, and a PDT laser. There is also Pentacam, OCT, angio-OCT, and ultrasound.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with specialist training in ophthalmology. To succeed in the role, you need to have worked as a specialist doctor in Sweden for at least six months. To ensure high patient safety and good care quality, you are meticulous and accurate in your documentation. Since you will be communicating with patients, relatives, and colleagues in this role, good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is required.

You are an engaged and attentive specialist doctor with a strong patient focus, who enjoys collaborating with others. You are a secure and stable person with good self-awareness, and you have the ability to build trusting relationships with both patients and colleagues.

In the role, you collaborate closely with different professional groups to ensure high-quality care. You lead and mentor with respect, attentiveness, and a positive attitude. With a solution-focused mindset, you see opportunities in changes and have the courage to act on your convictions. At the same time, you have a good ability to work independently and drive your work forward.

Employment Conditions
