Malmö Opera is looking for Service Technician Installation & Special Effects

Malmö Opera is the heart and voice of music drama in Skåne. The house was inaugurated in 1944 and is centrally located in the Öresund region, just 20 minutes from Copenhagen. The stage is one of the largest in Europe, and the amphitheater-shaped auditorium accommodates 1500 visitors. We perform classical, modern, and newly written music drama. Malmö Opera has over 285 permanent employees and 500–700 engaged in productions each season. During a season, we produce over 300 performances for the main stage as well as for children's, youth, and touring activities.

Job Description

We work to create high-level performing arts experiences, and no production is the same. The role of Service Technician Installation & Special Effects involves an exciting combination of innovation work and installation.

We work to realize scenic visions. In one production, you may be involved in developing a moving motorized orchestra platform, while in another production, you may create LED installations. Another production may require a pneumatic brake or a mechanical solution to create magic.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we see that you are a person with great curiosity, inventiveness, and an open personality. You have a strong interest in construction and good technical and practical understanding. We believe your background could come from mechanics, electrical installation, pneumatics, or another suitable combination of skills.

We also see that you thrive on juggling multiple tasks simultaneously, enjoy taking responsibility, and play an important role within our decoration workshop and for our productions. You are good at communicating, flexible, and enjoy having a varied daily routine. You work in a structured manner, keep things organized, and are meticulous in ensuring quality in everything you do.

We also see that you have the desire to stay updated on the latest in your field, are eager to learn more, and are not afraid to try new things. If you also have experience in mechatronics or leadership, that is a plus. You are used to seeking information and enjoy having contact with suppliers and manufacturers.

Employment Conditions

The position is full-time with immediate start after agreement. We apply a six (6) month probationary period for this position.
