Research Assistant in Global Public Health

The Department of Medicine, Division of Social Medicine and Public Health, conducts extensive teaching and research in global public health science, general medicine, occupational medicine, environmental medicine, social medicine, pharmaceutical use, and pharmaceutical policy. We also conduct teaching and research in nutritional epidemiology, insurance medicine, innovation and utilization, health economics, biostatistics, and registry epidemiology.
The research conducted within the global health group aims to reduce health inequalities and improve population health worldwide. To achieve this, we conduct research on the biological and social determinants of health to understand the mechanisms of diseases. Most of the research from the global health team is based on population-based epidemiological studies, analysis of registry data, monitoring and modeling based on epidemiological data, clinical and molecular epidemiological studies, health promotion studies, health system research, and development studies.
The global health research group is now seeking a research assistant to evaluate innovative resuscitation techniques to improve care in low- and middle-income countries.
Job Responsibilities
As a research assistant, you will coordinate PhD students, medical students, and the research group from Nepal, Uganda, Bangladesh, the UK, and Sweden for project development and implementation. Your tasks include, but are not limited to: (i) data management across countries regarding climate change with maternal and child health outcomes (ii) developing adaptation plans for health and other sectors and (iii) supporting development projects for longitudinal modeling of children's mental health and developmental outcomes. In addition to the specific project, you will participate in weekly and regular meetings with partners in maternal and child health research.
Qualifications
For the position, you are required to have completed or be in the final stages of a master's degree in public health or global health science. You should have a specialization in epidemiology and have completed courses in statistics. Experience in climate modeling of health outcomes and proposal development in climate and health is desirable.
You should have work experience in demographic and health-related surveys and NASA's data management and data analysis with good skills. Furthermore, you must be fluent in English, both spoken and written.
