Coordinator of Diakonia, full-time (100%) based in the Cathedral Congregation

Who are we

We are a team that works in various professions – from priests to church caretakers, from deacons to church musicians. The Cathedral's team has a strong focus on concerts and services, and the parish's cultural and musical activities are coordinated from here. The Cathedral itself is currently a diaconal reception and has a very close collaboration with the parish's congregations regarding diakonia, where the Coordinator of Diakonia will act as the coordinator of the diaconal work in the Cathedral Congregation. The position is part of the Cathedral Congregation's team, where your closest colleague is the congregation's deacon.

Your mission

We are looking for a person who can drive projects, always with humanity in focus. Your tasks will include coordinating the various activities of the six congregations for the unemployed and the elderly, from community meetings and barbecue evenings to services at nursing homes; as well as investigating and implementing a plan for the renovation of the diaconal reception in the Cathedral. You will do this in close collaboration with the parish's diaconal team and the parish priests in Vasa Congregation and the Cathedral Congregation. You are the face of the Church of Sweden and are a member who shares the Church of Sweden's faith and values.

Your qualifications

You have post-secondary education, for example, a folk high school or university degree in a relevant field for diakonia, as well as a couple of years of work experience. We envision you as a driven and independent person who works well in a team and can also drive projects on your own. It is an advantage if you have experience working within various organizations in the civil society or in the church. You have good organizational skills, but also a heart for humanity. Building networks and keeping projects together “from start to finish” comes naturally to you; you are open to collaborations even outside your own area of work.

You will meet both volunteers and visitors in your daily work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Familiarity with digital systems is a requirement (for example, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Office), and familiarity with bureaucratic and administrative structures will be a significant asset. You have very good knowledge of Swedish and English. You have a B driver's license.

Other information about the job and application

The position is project-based, time-limited for three years, and is financed by a diaconal foundation. Evening and weekend work may occur. The application deadline is April 27, 2025.
