Temporary Substitute Position within the Education Administration

The position is placed within the Education Administration, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. We work to offer high-quality education, from preschool to adult education, providing the residents of Linköping with the best conditions to grow, develop their knowledge, and reach their full potential.

Your Responsibilities

We are now looking for temporary substitutes for Vist School and Norrbergaskolan. As a substitute, you may work as a childcare worker, teacher, or resource in the classroom, as well as in our after-school care when regular staff are absent. Depending on your qualifications, the assignment in the school may involve teaching in preschool class to grade 6, or being a resource for the class or an individual student throughout the school day. This includes supporting them in educational situations, being a playground supervisor, or assisting in changing rooms before and after physical education classes. In after-school care, the work involves being outdoors with students, accompanying them to snack time, communicating with guardians during drop-off and pick-up, or helping with various activities such as arts and crafts, recreational gymnastics, or excursions to the forest.

As a Short-Term Substitute

As a short-term substitute, you primarily work during school terms. We have limited job opportunities during all holidays, including summer. You will enter your available working hours into your digital calendar and will be booked according to the needs of the operation. Your digital calendar is accessible via an app on your phone or online. As a short-term substitute, you need to be prepared for shifts that may come at short notice.

Your Workplace

Vist School and Norrbergaskolan together form the Vist School principal area. Both schools are located in the picturesque Sturefors, just south of central Linköping. Vist School is a newly renovated F-6 school with 350 students, and Norrbergaskolan is an F-2 school with about 125 students. Here, you will be part of a cohesive staff group while collaborating with colleagues throughout the principal area. You can easily reach Sturefors by bus directly from central Linköping, and we also have service bicycles available for you to borrow to easily travel between our schools. About 65 employees work at the school, including support functions such as school nurse, counselor, psychologist, special educational coordinator, school librarian, administrator, and janitor.

The staff is organized into four work teams where the school collaborates with after-school care staff for the benefit of the students. We have qualified and competent staff who continuously work to develop the operation with a strong focus on collegial learning. Vist School and Norrbergaskolan are currently in an exciting development phase, with a strong focus on safety and study peace. As part of this work, we focus on creating accessible learning environments to provide the best conditions for all students to succeed in school. We constantly strive to adjust our teaching to achieve increased goal fulfillment.

Our operation is open Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 18:00.

Who We Are Looking For

To work as a substitute with us, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma. We primarily seek individuals with relevant education as childcare workers or teachers, such as ongoing or completed studies to become a childcare worker, after-school teacher, or teacher.

It is advantageous if you have worked in preschool, school, and/or after-school care. It is also advantageous if you have experience in other work with children/youth, either through paid work, internships, or volunteer work. If you have had volunteer assignments as a leader for children or youth that the employer deems relevant, this is also considered an advantage, such as leadership within community organizations.

Furthermore, it is a requirement that you have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is to ensure that you can organize and carry out work so that children receive support in their language and communication development according to the curriculum (Lgr22). You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a substitute, you should be a good role model. You have the ability to collaborate with the contacts that occur in your professional role, adapted to the situation. In the role of a substitute, it is also important that you, as a person, take initiative and responsibility in activities and tasks in our operation. Since you are booked according to the needs of the operation, it means that one day is rarely the same as another, and you therefore need to be flexible. You easily adapt to new operations/work environments and group constellations.
