The mission of our team is to create value for our customers, both by offering decentralized solutions consisting of solar energy and energy storage solutions – i.e., clean, distributed, and renewable energy – and by providing services related to these products.
Another key area for our team is to connect and optimize the energy system where connected decentralized energy resources (DER) create value in the form of flexibility needed to stabilize the national grid, manage imbalances in energy trading, and alleviate overloads in the electricity grid, thus providing significant benefits to society. As a Product Area Manager within Customers & Solutions (C&S) Nordics, you will work with our team to develop the DES operations in Sweden and Finland. Your specific focus will be to lead projects from start to finish in areas such as product, business, or operational development.
About the role
In the role of Development / Assignment Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving a development project or assignment from the decision to start the project or assignment to implementation and closure. This responsibility includes proposing a suitable development methodology for the project at the start and ensuring complete handover of not only the results but also all relevant issues to the concerned recipient, which could be DES Market Operations or Product Area Manager. Emphasis should be placed on continuous improvement, i.e., ensuring knowledge sharing through the presentation of improvement proposals. These should be communicated and documented before the project or assignment is closed. Collaboration with external partners and other parts of DES and Vattenfall is an important part of the daily work that includes people, processes, and technology.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the team through planning and execution of projects/assignments: Plan, organize, coordinate, and report on the implementation of assigned projects to steering groups, ensuring they are completed within agreed quality standards, timelines, and budgets, and if an agile approach is preferred, follow the guidelines included in this method given budget and expected results.
- Delivering on certain tasks/areas within the project - depending on the project's size and complexity.
- Managing project stakeholders - managing internal stakeholders' expectations, keeping everyone updated on project progress, and ensuring effective communication throughout the project's lifecycle.
- Communication with/managing technical partners within the project framework – if applicable and involving technical partners; manage the relationship and ensure a structured approach to engaging the partner during the development phase.
- Managing project resources and project risks - managing all resources involved in the project, including team members and external resources. Identifying potential project risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them to keep the project on track.
- Ensuring quality is in line with established standards: Ensuring project deliveries meet quality standards through regular reviews and testing.
- Monitoring progress - Tracking and monitoring the project's progress, making adjustments as needed to stay on schedule and within budget.
- Ensuring a good working environment for project members and collaborating with line managers to uphold Vattenfall's goals for a safe workplace.
- Project closure: When completed, ensure the project is officially closed and that all results and documents are transferred to relevant colleagues/organization.
Qualifications
- Academic degree as a Civil Engineer or equivalent.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience working as a project manager or as a sub-project manager in larger projects with many stakeholders.
- Good understanding of the energy landscape.
- Good understanding of opportunities within the rapidly emerging digital field.
- Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English. Finnish is a plus.
