Svenska KraftnätStockholms län, Sundbyberg
Previous experience is desired
Technical Area Manager for Voltage
At the System division, you will work with the most exciting challenges of the electricity system – from the operational hour here and now to planning 40 years ahead. The great complexity and development opportunities make our work both stimulating and significant. Here, you will gain a unique holistic perspective on the electricity system and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure a safe, sustainable, and efficient electricity supply.
About the Position
The role of Technical Area Manager for Voltage is a new position where you have the opportunity to shape the role and develop and anchor working methods and decision-making processes, even though there are already some foundations to build upon. The role involves coordinating and being cohesive to ensure delivery within the technical area of voltage concerning alternating current at Svenska kraftnät. This means driving and working on issues with both technical breadth and depth together with technical experts. You will have overall responsibility and lead cross-functional work within the voltage area as well as drive improvement work and development of the technical area. Furthermore, the role entails:
- ensuring that the long-term strategy and vision for the voltage area remain current and that necessary activities and needs are initiated to achieve the set goals
- responsibility for identifying needs, planning, and coordinating the work conducted within the technical area
- responsibility for existing and the development of new agreements with connected parties within the technical area and monitoring compliance
- responsibility for monitoring key performance indicators and initiating actions in case of deviations
- developing and driving collaborations both within Svenska kraftnät and with external actors
- participating in Nordic and European working and expert groups within the area and engaging in various projects and initiatives related to the role's or unit's area of responsibility.
Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Svenska kraftnät fulfilling its system responsibility within voltage, to set requirements for connected parties, and to meet agreed requirements. You will be part of contributing to a stable power system where capabilities from all power sources contribute. You will have the opportunity to influence how Svenska kraftnät views issues within the area of responsibility and operate both internally and externally.
You will belong to the unit for Requirements Coordination and System Strategy, which currently consists of nine employees with a mixed age and gender distribution. The unit has a clearly coordinating role and is responsible for a comprehensive requirement picture for connected parties, system disturbance analyses, and for integrating the areas of voltage and frequency. The unit also has a coordinating responsibility for the department's work within civil preparedness.
About You
Requirements:
As the role involves many contact points both internally and externally, we are looking for someone who is confident in new situations and can humbly stand up for their opinions while distinguishing between the matter and the person. You see the value in collaborating with others and listen to find solutions through an unpretentious focus on common goals. You are accustomed to setting goals and work ambitiously to drive towards achieving them. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical area of voltage, which means you will need to view the area from an analytical perspective – today and in the future. Therefore, it is important that you are analytical and can see logic and connections in complex information or environments. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
Furthermore, you have a Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or relevant work experience that Svenska kraftnät deems applicable for the position. You also have:
- several years of work experience in the construction and function of power systems, including at least three years of experience working with system-related issues
- a good understanding of how voltage and reactive power interact over different time perspectives in the power system, both statically and dynamically
- a deep and broad technical understanding of the electricity system and its capabilities
- experience in a leading or coordinating role
- good skills in spoken and written Swedish and English.
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- experience working related to Operations or within system or network planning in regional or transmission networks
- experience working with production facilities or FACTS focusing on system or voltage issues
- experience driving development and improvement work within a technical area
- a licentiate or doctoral degree in the field of electrical engineering.
