The Role of the Nurse

You are welcome to apply for an exciting and developing position as a summer substitute with us in the summer of 2025.

For us, it is important that you feel safe, motivated, and prepared for your summer job with us. Therefore, you will receive thorough training based on your needs and experiences. As a newly graduated/student, there is much to learn with the support of experienced nurses. During the summer, all four units work together to support each other in our efforts to do our best for our patients. The schedule is planned so that experienced staff work alongside substitutes for safety and competence.

As a qualified nurse, you will have your own care team with a tailored number of patients after your introduction. Your focus will be on specific nursing together with a team consisting of doctors and pharmacists as well as experienced nursing assistants and rehabilitation staff. You will have tasks such as documentation, management of epidurals, central venous catheters, peripheral venous catheters, nephrostomy, drainage, and medication management, as well as coordination during discharge. You will care for acutely ill patients, patients who are to be or have been operated on, or who are to undergo various examinations, as well as patients who need palliative care. We know that it is not easy to be new on the job. Therefore, you are never the only nurse on the ward; there is always support and someone to ask.

Welcome to the surgical care unit. Here we care for surgical and urological emergency care patients across many specialties, as well as patients admitted in connection with surgery. We also care for palliative patients belonging to SSIH (Specialized Healthcare at Home).

Our facilities are open and bright with good ventilation. At lunch, you can choose to sit in our newly renovated staff room, out on the balcony, or in our shared lunchroom outside the department. In connection with breaks or adjacent to your work shift, we have our recovery room where you can sit in a massage chair and reflect or listen to music.

We are looking for someone who is

• A qualified nurse

To ensure good summer planning, we view positively if you can work as many weeks as possible between weeks 25-32 during the summer. If you have the opportunity for sporadic introduction during the spring and week 24, that is a plus. If you need a few days of continuous leave or a long weekend, we will accommodate requests regarding that before the schedule is set. The work is scheduled for days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends, not nights.
