The Anesthesia, Operating, and Intensive Care Clinic (ANOPIVA) at the University Hospital in Linköping is part of Sinnescentrum, Region Östergötland.

At ANOPIVA, you will work with anesthesia, postoperative care, intermediate care, and intensive care for both adult and pediatric patients. The anesthesia operations include major upper and lower abdominal surgery, urological and gynecological surgery, orthopedics and spinal surgery, HPK, eye and ENT surgery, as well as neurosurgery. In intensive care, we care for severely ill patients in need of general intensive care, as well as burn intensive care and neuro intensive care.

Currently, 21 resident doctors are serving at ANOPIVA, which constitutes about one-third of the clinic's doctors.

Job Description

The content and length of the specialist training are planned according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations in consultation with supervisors, study directors/ST chiefs, and department heads. The service begins with an introductory period where you will learn the basics of the specialty under supervision. During your continued specialist training, you will work within all of ANOPIVA's areas of operation and participate in recurring local and regional training, as well as national courses. There are opportunities for research, and you will also participate in the supervision and education of students and other professional groups.

About You

We are looking for a licensed physician with permission to practice in Swedish healthcare, who has completed Swedish AT (general training) or BT (basic training), and who has a broad interest in anesthesia and intensive care, physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology. You have good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form.

You are secure, stable, and have self-awareness. You see both relationships and factual issues in their correct perspective, distinguishing between the personal and professional. You adapt your approach according to the situation. You demonstrate good judgment in statements, actions, and decisions. You are interested in multidisciplinary teamwork, work well with others, and relate to others with judgment and a responsive and flexible manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively. You set and adhere to timelines. You understand the professional aspects of the work particularly well. You continuously maintain your specialist knowledge and have a good ability to handle complex issues with patients. You are a knowledge resource for others.

Previous experience in clinical work, research, and teaching is meritorious. Personal qualities are highly valued.

Application and Employment

Interviews will be held during April-May for a planned employment start in autumn-winter 2025. The service begins with a nine-month fixed-term employment under supervision, which counts towards the specialist training if the fixed-term employment transitions into a permanent specialist position.
