Dalarnas Museum is the regional museum in Dalarna and a place for knowledge, impulses, and impressions, both in the museum building, digitally in various channels, and in collaborations around the county. Cultural history and cultural heritage are special areas of focus. Dalarnas Museum collects, preserves, investigates, and displays objects, stories, and knowledge about cultural environments that describe how people in Dalarna have lived, settled, utilized, and moved through the landscape over time.

Dalarnas Museum has a beautiful museum building by the river in central Falun. The museum has around 45 employees, located in two places in Falun, both in the museum building and in a property with new, modern collection storage a few kilometers outside the city center.

Dalarnas Museum is now seeking a collections administrator to work with the collections. The collections consist of cultural historical collections, archives, image/film archives, and libraries. The cultural historical collections include art, archaeology, textiles, etc., and the museum has been collecting objects since 1862 through its predecessor, Dala fornsal. Our profile areas include folk art and parish costumes, and the museum has a large collection of Dala horses.

Within the framework of the museum's collection management, several collection curators, photo assistants, and object assistants work. The position is located in the collections department.

Collections Administrator

The focus of the position is to work on making the collections accessible from a broad perspective, through digitization, organization, registration, exhibitions, publications, etc. This means you will work with both strategic issues, administration, and practical operational work in the storage.

Permanent employment from 2025-09-01 or by agreement.

Extent: 100%

6-month probationary employment applies.

Job Responsibilities

You will administer and work on the development of our collection management system, Primus.

You will receive study visits, research visits, and respond to inquiries from the public.

You will take on the role of object manager in exhibition projects.

You will project manage various types of projects within the areas of collections and public mediation.

We believe you are a person who appreciates a job where the days can vary greatly, both in terms of theory and practice, complexity and simplicity, but also working alone or in a group. You need to be structured, analytical, and meticulous when needed, but also relationship-building and communicative. You should be able to see things from a broader perspective and be driven and persistent, as many of our processes are multi-year. At the same time, the work can be stressful and have deadlines that must be met.
