The City Planning Office is a central driving force in the municipality, responsible for developing, planning, and maintaining our city and municipality. With the task of producing detailed plans, working with building permits, and managing the municipality's streets, parks, and forests, we contribute to creating attractive and growing living environments for our residents.

The Planning Department is responsible for the municipality's detailed planning. We work with everything from new districts, new industrial areas, residential areas, commercial areas, and community-beneficial properties. The department consists of eleven employees and one manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an urban planner, you will be responsible for taking detailed plans from start to finish. This means that you will develop planning documents such as zoning maps and planning descriptions and ensure that necessary planning materials are produced.

You are responsible for asking questions, creating understanding, and finding solutions to achieve correct balances between private and public interests. In your work, it is important that you communicate orally and in writing in a correct yet easily understandable manner. Among other things, you will present your cases at consultation meetings and other types of meetings, e.g., at the City Planning Committee.

You will provide advice on planning issues. For questions that require a broader perspective, you will be responsible for coordinating that. You will also work on other issues within community planning. This may consist of various types of referrals but also participation in various community development projects.

You will collaborate closely with other employees in the department, such as traffic planners, landscape architects, and building permit officers. In addition to colleagues at the City Planning Office, you will work with other departments and companies within the Sundsvall municipal group.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic background in urban planning, physical planning, or community planning. We expect you to have knowledge of detailed planning and community planning, as well as familiarity with Swedish legislation regarding detailed planning and community planning. Furthermore, you should be well acquainted with everyday digital tools and systems such as Adobe and Office packages.

It is advantageous if you have:

• experience in preparing detailed plans
• experience working in a politically governed organization
