Do you want to help lead and develop today's and tomorrow's Meal Service within Uppsala Municipality?

Meal Service is an operation within Uppsala Municipality that runs restaurants in preschools, schools, high schools, senior restaurants, and delivers meals to residents within care and welfare operations. Every day we serve 45,000 meals and continuously develop our operations to stay at the forefront.

Meal Service has been nominated and competed in several competitions within public gastronomy with excellent placements as a result.

In the kitchen at Stordammens School, we prepare approximately 1,100 portions daily. In addition to two school restaurants, we send food to another primary school and two preschools that we also staff during lunch service.

We are now looking for a service-oriented and creative kitchen assistant for the kitchen at Stordammens School.

Your Mission

Your tasks as a kitchen assistant include preparing salads, light cooking, baking, preparing for serving, and providing service during lunch. You should be able to present the food and salad buffet and be familiar with the ingredients in the food, ensuring that guests with allergies receive safe and good meals. You will collaborate closely with your colleagues at Stordammens School and also with staff from nearby kitchens.

Other tasks included in the role:

• Dish handling
• Daily cleaning of kitchen and dining room
• Handling special diets
• Working with HACCP
• Deliveries and goods reception

Your Background

We are looking for someone with experience as a kitchen assistant, preferably in a large kitchen serving more than 600 portions. You are used to working with self-checks and handling special diets. It is an advantage if you have a high school education with a focus on restaurant management and training in HACCP. You have good knowledge of food hygiene and are computer literate. It is also important that you have good oral and written skills in Swedish.

As a person, you are service-oriented, calm, attentive, and accommodating. You have good teamwork skills and interact with others in a responsive and smooth manner. You are creative and enjoy taking on new approaches in your daily work. You should also be flexible, calm, and composed. You should be good at structuring, planning, and prioritizing your work.
