About the Department

We are an ophthalmic surgical department at Mölndal Hospital. In our unit, we perform all types of eye surgery, with cataract surgery being the most common procedure. We work with both day surgery and inpatient care. There are a total of seven operating rooms, three of which are equipped for anesthesia.

What do we offer?

We offer a broad and versatile ophthalmic surgical service. We provide you with a process structure where all employees are involved in different surgical processes to develop ophthalmic care. We work with regular internal training in the department.

Job Responsibilities

As a surgical nurse/ophthalmic nurse with us, you are part of the team around the patient, where we place great emphasis on the care of our patients. The tasks include the usual responsibilities of a surgical nurse/ophthalmic nurse in an eye surgery department, such as ensuring sterility and instrumentation during various procedures.

You will be involved, together with the process-responsible physician and your colleagues, in one or more of our seven surgical processes for development and deepening in surgical care.

We have on-call schedules for evenings, nights, and weekends, but primarily with daytime schedules.

About You

You are a licensed nurse with specialized training in surgical care or an ophthalmic nurse. Experience working as a surgical nurse or ophthalmic nurse in an eye surgery department is an advantage. You see the team as an important part of the work and have a positive attitude. You should want to contribute to a pleasant work environment and feel free to share good ideas and be structured.

You should have an interest and the prerequisites to work in ophthalmic surgical nursing.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Base Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
